Before I bid on an item I received a photo and information that Ebay wanted my payment information

Before they could post my bid and that my payment woould take an hour before it would be processed after the bidding ended. What is going on? I have a CC on file.

In attempt to cut down on non-payers, eBay is implementing policies where a buyer has to pre-authorize their payment when they place their bid.

If the buyer wins the auction they will have 1 hour post-auction if they need to make a change to the payment method, otherwise eBay will charge the buyer's pre-approved default.

Even if you have a CC on file, if you never accepted to authorize it for automatic payments on auctions and offers, you'll have to do that before you can proceed any further.

Who was the photo from?

Some sellers require you to choose a payment source before placing a bid and if you win, it'll be automatically paid using the funding source.
