I been on EBay since they first started and purchased over 2000 items. I won a bid on Sunday night and after I won a prompt popped up saying the payment will automatically withdrawn from my Paypal account in 60 minutes and timer pop up. The seller had a option of picking up the item locally which is what I was going to do. Instead EBay automatically processed the payment. I would have been fine with this if this would have been in the original listing but instead it just happened without my knowledge. Anyone else had this experience. I like to have control on when I make my payments or at minimum be told before the purchase that the payment is going to be processed in 60 minutes.

I don't know how long it's been available, but sellers can now tick a box (under the Seller Preferences) to provide a payment method before bidding/buying... to prevent non-pays. I'd say your seller did. >> Buyer management | eBay

Sellers have no option to this yet....I have been here around the block a few times.

I do bid on auctions and win(sometimes).

And telling someone here to clink on a link is like 'telling someone to go read the book'.

This is something new which rolled out as a test a few months ago.

It will not happen to same seller and buyer usually...I have been there also.

The buyer gets a clock clocking down 'one hour' after a winning auction to change the payment option.

Usually the last purchase You the buyer made is the credit card eBay with auto-pay on the auction in that hour even though you might still be bidding on other auctions of same bidder in one hour plus.

It kind of gives you an idea who makes up these stupid ideas.

My best seller has their auctions end before 5AM...does eBay think I will be up to change my payment option?

A lot of auctions are in different time zones...explain time zones to the employees of eBay.

Thank you for that reply. In my case the auction ended at 1:00am and I happened to still be up when I got the 1hr clock. I changed my preferred payment method but I guess 1hr is not enough time for Paypal to make the change. The funds were still withdrawn from my checking account instead of a credit card I wanted to use.  I had enough to cover to the transaction but I would like to be the one to determine when and how I am going to make the payment (within reason). At minimum let the buyer know in advance that this is how this transaction is set up. The seller offered free pickup which is the option I was going to use but now I have to go thru the hassle of getting a refund from them for the shipping I was forced to pay. 10 years ago I purchased a 2001 Corvette off EBAY and imagine what would have happened if I would have gotten the 1hr clock. Whoever thought this was a good idea is a total moron.

I kind of thought this was the turn your transaction had taken. Auto pay didn't make sense for a Local Pickup to me. Dang.

Come to find out this is a EBay test program. The seller has no control over at this point.  I guess EBay is doing random test on payments automatically being withdrawn 1hr after the won auction has ended. It's a terrible idea.
