Why do I sometimes not get an option to input sizes when I'm listing?

I just created a listing for a hanging wood item and once again the listing does not have a place for me to put in the size of the item.  This seems so hit or miss, sometimes the listing shows the area for putting sizes in and sometimes it doesn't.  This is not a copied listing, it is a fresh one.  Why is this happening, can anyone explain?  Thanks

Item specific fields are not the same across all categories. But at the bottom of the item specifics list there's a link to show all and you'll see an option to add custom item specifics.

When I list in a category that does not have size IS, I add custom IS for things like height, length, width.

I looked at "show all" and the custom item box came up but it doesn't seem designed for sizes.  It has to spaces, one for "name" and the other for "value."  I didn't know that not all categories have IS options so that's good to know that I'm not missing something.  I wonder why Ebay doesn't allow for sizes for most items?  Seems strange to me.  I will list size in description and in title I guess.  Thanks for the info.
