I hadn’t sold on ebay for years, but this month I listed something. So I am a “new” seller. The buyer hasn’t paid and today is the deadline I had given for payment. But I would like to see exactly what I said so I can know how to proceed (i.e. whether I can cancel their bid now or should wait until tomorrow.) I don’t remember my exact wording, and I have searched and searched and cannot find my invoices! Where can I find them?

Per eBay policy.............. buyer has 96 hours to pay.
That 96 hours is from the time of the sale, or the time of your invoice, whichever is later. Sending an invoice changes the 96 hour start time.
Does not matter what "deadline" you gave the buyer. Your payment deadline does not override eBay policy.
After 96 hours you should be presented with the option to cancel using the reason "buyer did not pay"

According to the available information, that item sold on May 9th.
Therefore, the buyer had til May 13th to pay.
The seller could have cancelled on May 14th, citing "buyer did not pay" as the reason.
May I respectfully suggest that you read or re-read the information for sellers. Some things may have changed since you last sold on eBay.
Not sure sellers have ever been able to make a deadline for payment; however, a seller can certainly wait longer than four days to cancel if he wishes, keeping in mind that he has just 30 days to take that step with eBay.

Ha ha, Yes, I know about the 96 hours, now, but didn’t know at the time I sent my invoice stating May 23. 🙂 (As a buyer I always pay immediately, so didn’t know there was an Ebay policy.) I found out about the policy after I sent the invoice. I am going to cancel their bid. I just want to see exactly how I worded my invoice comment. Is there any way to view sent invoices?

You cant cancel their bid.
You have to cancel their purchase if they won.

I appreciate the helpful comments, 🙂 but nobody has answered my question, which is — How can I see the invoices I have sent?
My conclusion is that you CAN’T see them — which is really odd considering all the things Ebay has so carefully made to be seen. (They even sent me an email copy of the second chance offer I sent to the next bidder. Yet, nowhere can I find the invoices I had sent to the winning bidder!)

Weather you can see an invoice you have sent or not, if they have not paid in the allow by eBay time frame, sending more invoices on top of what eBay sends will not get the buyer to pay and a waste of time, they are not going to pay. Cancel and relist, also use the buyer block. You will get your fees refunded.

Why is it imperative that you see your invoice? Anything you may have stated has no standing now, nor did it then, if it was only stated on the invoice.
You have a nonpaying bidder. You need to do what multiple others have suggested which is cancel, citing buyer did not pay.

Hay,
As far as I can find, there is no way to retrieve an invoice. If you find a way, please let me know.
Any important info I need to send to the buyer I do so in a msg. I can retrieve that.

I can see Invoices I have sent in my email. I can't remember if that is a Site Preference I set up, or if it is automatic.

OK, thanks! I’ll check my preferences, because I would like to be able to view the invoices, to see exactly what I said. 🙂 In this particular incident I did find, later, that I had saved my wording in Notes (where I often compose things). But seeing the invoices would be more useful in general.
Regarding other comments: my integrity is important to me, so whether or not the bidder was a deadbeat, I need to honor MY word. (Since I had requested that they pay before May 23, I couldn’t jump the gun and close them down before that.) That’s all. In the future I won’t allow such a long time for payment. 🙂

You really should not be adding any wording about a pay by date. Anything added to the description about pay by date does not hold any water in the eyes of eBay. The buyers know how long they have to pay, if they don't pay in the time allotted by eBay after receiving several payment reminders from eBay, they are not going to pay. If they ask you for an extension and you don't have your listings setup for automatically cancel, that would be a different story. But don't allow pay extensions past the 30 days (28 or 29 would be better so you have a little leeway to cancel), or you lose your fees.
This is a business transaction, it is not personal, treat it as such.
Because you have not sold in over a year (looking at your Feedback and taking into account the Fenton piece), also know that you will be subject to up to 30 day holds on payouts. This is for any returning seller that has not had any sold item in the past 90 days, same as new sellers. Are you signed up for Managed Pay?

Yep, I know that. Thanks! 🙂

Same. I've been searching and searching to find out if I can view an invoice for a very legit reason on a 'combined item' order and need to know the shipping amount I charged because it is displaying that the buyer paid less than a dollar for shipping. The only way I can confirm it was my fault is by viewing the darn invoice I sent!!!

This may help - I have also been unable to find a copy of the Invoice I sent, but I checked the box near the bottom of the Send Invoice form "Email me a copy", and I received a copy of the email sent to the buyer, including the details of the Invoice. There is also another function that may help - next to the Send Invoice button, at the bottom of the form, there is a "Preview" link, and you can print a copy of the Invoice preview.
I agree with all above who are frustrated by not having a simpler solution to review past transactions.
Hope this helps.
