Best Ways to Get Views???

Hi! My name is Joanne and I am NOT in Marketing haha. Other than following all the “best practices” and promoting, does anyone have suggestions for getting my items in front of more people? I’m doing my best here, but give me the pro-tips! Thanks!

You want VIEWS, or do you want SALES?

You want sales, I would suggest you turn these off:

https://www.ebay.com/bmgt/buyerrequirements

Buyer Rules:

*Require buyers to provide a payment method before they place a bid.

*Require buyers to provide a payment method before they make an offer.

Click submit or save.

Or at least the one regarding "offers" (you don't have any auctions).  The setting requires a buyer to put up a payment source in order to make you an offer at all.  It limits the payment options they can use, and removes combined shipping for multiple items for which you accept offers. The buyer is auto-billed/payment made separately for each one at full shipping price.  Buyers do not appreciate being treated like low-life non-paying buyers straight out of the gate, so many will just pass your listings by as a result.

eBay gives you a "warning" that suggests non-payers will swarm your listings if you turn these off.  LOL... There are other more effective blocks you can use to be sure that are less offensive to regular PAYING buyers.  You, of course, can continue to limit your buyer pool any way you like.

Good luck, and happy selling!

Best Ways to Get Views???

Just a couple pointers that have been talked about here a lot of times and I'm sure everyone will agree with them.

As a new seller the best thing to do is to read about selling on eBay as much as you can, Reading older post on this board will give you the best education that you can get.

It is quite common here for new sellers who come to this board all upset about being scammed. Scammers tend to target new sellers. It's a terrible thing to talk about but it's a fact of life selling online. The best thing you can do in the beginning is to not try to sell anything, you can't afford to lose.

The next common thing that upsets new sellers is the fees associated with selling. Also the having your money held for 30 days before you receive a payout.

There are no short cuts that anyone will be able to give as it's a process that takes a long time to learn. Sometimes the things you list take a long time before it sells. So the more items you list, the more your chances of being seen improve.  Nothing sells unless there is someone who wants it.

Just like any professional career, you need to study up on how it works and what it does. Learn the correct way to do it. Make sure you read and watch all the tutorials that eBay provides and make sure you know all the rules.  Put your customer in front of the money. Money won't come without happy buyers. Build up a feedback score that allows your customer to know they can trust you. Say what you do and do what you say.

Feedback is really important. Start out selling lower priced items in the beginning. I don't know too many people who will spend tons of money on something without knowing that the company they are buying from is legit and real.

Selling expensive stuff brings red flags to eBay also as they don't know you either in the beginning. They are big on protecting the name that they have worked so hard to get. Again, you can read in greater detail just by reading all the other post of things that people have come here complaining about. It's a great lesson in what not to do as much as what to do.  In well over 90% of those complaints. they were because of user errors.

Wish You Luck and Enjoyment on the venture you are going to take. It can be very much fun and rewarding.

Best thing I can say is work at it and Don't expect any Secret Sauce. Anything worth doing isn't going to be easy or everyone would be already doing it. It's not Marketing as much as just make your customer a friend. Marketing is up to Ebay.

I'm sure others will chime in also.

Best Ways to Get Views???

Can't help you with getting more views but do have a couple of other comments.

You are a new seller and new sellers are often targets for thieves.  You have a couple of expensive items listed.  I don't know how much scamming goes on with what you are selling but I, for one, would never sell a $3,000 or $10,000 item of any kind on eBay and I know a lot of other sellers feel the same way.

You also have "no returns" on your items.   On eBay, no returns does not mean no refunds.  eBay has a Money Back Guarantee which means if a buyer files a Not as Described claim, you have to issue him a label for the return of the item and upon your receipt of the item, issue the buyer a refund.  If you do not do this, the buyer can ask eBay to step in and they will force you to refund and let the buyer keep the item.  Keep in mind that buyers sometimes lie about the condition in order to return the item, and even worse, some buyers will return something else instead of what you sent them and you still have to refund them.  (Like that pocket watch you have listed, a buyer could get that and return a Timex or a box of rocks or sometimes worse.) Not trying to scare you but you have some pricy items listed and you need to be aware that things "happen" on eBay, so never sell anything you can't afford to lose.

Use a black background showing your items for sale...that will bring out colors better...I keep seeing your hand.

Read up on 'freight forward"...a buyer from another country can still make a purchase using a domestic address...Florida, Delaware, Oregon, etc. and it will go to an International Country...we cannot block these sales.

Do not sell anything high-end until you have more experience with problems with selling on eBay.

And always, always check buyer ID in Feedbacks...what country they are from and replies these buyers left for other sellers.

Good luck.

Concentrate on price. Look at comp sales vs current listings and price competitively.

Don't over think it.

Best Ways to Get Views???

Hi Joanne and welcome to the community! So glad you have come asking questions—you should do well here. Keep in mind it can take time and patience to build a business, so don’t be discouraged by slower sales in the beginning. You are in the eBay Learning Curve now so concentrate on doing your best at learning the ropes and sales will follow.

One suggestion i have is to learn about SEO—Search Engine Optimization. i will post a link below to get you started. It may sound technical, but it is really just the art of setting up your listings with strong keywords and identifiers that will draw buyers in to your listings. It will help those shoppers who are looking for items like yours find your stuff out of a sea of other items. Keywords will identify your specific goods thru things like brand name, color, size, style, category, model number, material, etc. SEO can give you a boost in search results, an edge over your competition.

Word to the wise: when i am advising loved ones on how to sell on eBay, one thing i stress is to not list expensive goods until you have successfully sold a minimum of 20 regular priced  items over a four-month period. Serious buyers will want an experienced seller before taking a big chance on a new seller with a high dollar listing. But the scammers will be out in force.

On eBay it is easy to separate an experienced seller from their thousand-dollar listing. So don’t take that chance if you are a new seller with no background in online sales. Wait until you are thru the Learning Curve and have some feedback built up.

Most transactions go off without a hitch. My experiences here have been overwhelmingly positive and have never encountered a fraudulent buyer myself, over 15+ years, but i am a cautious lister with high risk tolerance. I started slow and easy with a strong background in Marketing fashion and sales.

Wish you much good fortune on eBay, Joanne. Come back anytime—there is always someone here to help.

OOOH, me, me!  I would like to buy Jason Momoa.  He doesn't even have to do any work around the house, he can just stand around & look good 🙂

On a more serious note, selling 10K items with 11 FB is just asking for trouble.  Do you realize that you do take the risk of being scammed on any item you sell?  It happens mainly to brand new sellers b/c they don't know the ins & outs of eBay.  Start by selling items you can afford to lose so that you're not heartbroken & out a  lot of money if you do lose it.  I'm a 27 year seller & I wouldn't sell a 10K item b/c I can't afford to lose it.

Best Ways to Get Views???

Oh my gosh, I had no idea that I could scammed on eBay!? I would lose my mind if I shipped my Harry Potter book and payment didn’t go through. I am taking it down. Thank you all so much for the advice and information on SEO!

P.S. If I had Jason Momoa, he wouldn’t be for sale and I would have another hobby 😉😏

Thank you for this! That was the price for it back in 1988 when it was originally for sale, so I am hesitant to remove it. Someone already bought the other one for $200, but I appreciate your feedback!
