Linen or cotton towel

Is this called dobby weave? Or is there another name for it?

Re: Linen or cotton towel

Hard to tell from a photo but it sort of looks ike linen. Back in the day, I used to use a microscope.

I think that is a dobby weave. But it has been a while since I worked with this stuff so I could be wrong.

Unfortunately it is really slow around here.

Re: Linen or cotton towel

Thank you for responding.  I have been searching for dobby towel on ebay but nothing much has turned up so I thought I had the wrong word.

Re: Linen or cotton towel

Maybe try Huck towel for weave.  Not foolproof, but one way I distinguish cotton from linen is linen feels cool when i lightly touch to face or the back of my hand.

Re: Linen or cotton towel

Linen is more quickly absorbent than cotton.  The same weight and weave of linen and cotton can theoretically be told apart by usisng this method...
