Ok just got blindsided by a email from ebay. They are restricting the sales of all air bags going forward from unapproved vendors. Plus they are not accepting applications for new vendors. So how are we going to be bypassing this one? I just don't get this change at all, and never got the chance to sign up. Seems like the huge vendors got to sign up while us little guys get shoved out of the market. I bet lkq has an airbag vendor license. I shouldn't be shocked anymore, I really shouldn't. It's already really hard to even sell air bags from older vehicles, I never even post them from 15 plus year old cars. If this is still about the air bag recall, the ebay system has been programmed with vehicles on the recall list. You can not post an airbag from one, I've gotten the error message. If it works then there is no reason for a policy change other than letting big sellers charge more by removing the competition.

Sorry this is happening. The only thing I can say, don't try to list them, you are on eBays radar and could get your account suspended or restricted.

I had some crash sensors removed a couple of days ago. Standard email about must be approved seller. I contacted eBay to ask who are approved sellers and what are the guidelines. Three different representatives, including two supposed supervisors (last supposedly from eBay Motors) simply regurgitated what I had already said and what I already knew. Not one could tell me anything, and I mean anything about the requirements for an approved seller of air bags or components. The last, supervisor from eBay Motors, simply stated that they could see I had items removed and they "suggest [I] not relist them." They did not even respond at all to my inquiry and have it so I cannot respond to their message. . . Time to file a BBB complaint. And, I agree that it is all geared to help the large resellers but, I believe it is at the governmental level. This has been going on for years where the licensed and "certified used parts resellers" in states have been trying to stop individuals and small businesses from selling air bags. The first rep on eBay told me that new governmental regulations went into effect in September . . . I have not confirmed. Not good business practice for eBay to not provide information about so-called approved sellers. And, since I challenged them on it it seems no one can find my listings. Sales have died. . . Coincidence? Maybe.

We were told 99% of the recently approved sellers are no longer allowed to sell airbags. But 1% (largest) of companies are still selling them. We found one that has 23,000 airbags listed and did a little research and that companies eBay salesperson had no clue about everyone else being banned from selling them. I guess that large company has a monopoly on the market now a year later. There should be a law against this.

how you going to bypass:
I advise not to try.

Have no knowledge about air bags and their sale on eBay.
Just have to say this:
Don't list them since you now be on their radar.
Gentle reminder: It's Bay's site. If they want to not allow the listing of green shirts, yellow tablecloths, red shoes or air bags, it's their right to do so.

What was it that made you think people didn't already understand that? You either thought the persons posting here were very ignorant or it's an insult.

People have sold defective airbags or those that have no bag, but have a resistor to keep the light off.
Source an air bag from a wrecking yard. Not all salvaged vehicles have blown air bags. Try negotiating a price with the dealer for a new one.
I replaced defective air bags in my past and was able to get a good price from the dealer. But then, again, I was a dealer too.

eBay is protecting the consumer. I celebrate their efforts and will likely shoot off some fireworks in celebration.

Ebay is ruining their own site.. they need to hire EA staff so they can kill off this site faster

I am so happy that eBay is managing this site and removing all of the potential safety hazards. I feel safer knowing that their watchful eye is limiting what can be presented here to avoid duping people.

i can tell you first had that Ebay isnt removing potential safety hazards by what they are doing, people are still listing recalled airbags and just leaving the years the airbag fits out of the title and description, i have sold airbags on ebay since the beginning and was part owner of another company that is still selling airbags and doing exactly what i said, but they are a aprroved seller and Ebay doenst seem to care, i have reportedd mulitple recall airbags but they still let them list, and now that i am with my own company i cant even get aproved to list even thought i have over 15 years experience listing airbags on ebay and shipping them correctly. i can almost guarantee that if you was to order a airbag off the aprroved sellers that is does not come to you hazmat like there suspose. i have done it.
