Help Identify Is it an ASHTRAY or a VANITY TRAY? What CLASSIC CAR Did It Come Out Of?

I was told this was a Vanity Tray. Looks more like an ashtray. If any experts in Classic Autos or Automobilia have ever seen one could you please share your information with me? It measures at its widest almost 7" with a height of 4 5/8" and a maximum depth of almost 2". There was a note identifying it as being a 1930's Vanity Tray?  Nice Art Nouveau design to it. Would like to know make/model of vehicle....actually any information is always greatly appreciated. Thanks ebay for any AND all comments.

Kinda reminds me of one'a them ashtrays ya'd see recessed into/attached to counter of a bank, when smoking in public was still common...and we were still free enough that a business could decide if they wanted to allow smoking or not.
