Here is a challenge for some of you younger guys and anybody else who wants to participate. I just sat down here and thought of 40 names of railroads that used to exist in the 1950's & 60's. Without any research or cheating of any kind see how many you can come up with then maybe we will figure out how to comopile a list to see which ones we forgot. Mike PS: how is my spelling this time Dad?

Pete, I can't think of any that you missed but then I could only come up with four off the top of my head. My source is strictly from memory. Mike

Wouldn't it be easier Pete to just scan copies and Email the list to those that want one? I enjoy looking at the lists your putting up but know your fingers have to be bleeding. Mike Happy Birthday AMERICA!!

No fun spoiled here Lou. Actually I'm using 3 books and of course they are in alphabetical order. The print is different in each book and scanning would make the list too small to see clearly. Pete, One of the "C's" brought back some fond memories. The Chicago South Shore & South Bend (CSS&SB) is really a commuter line in to Chicago from Northern Indiana. In the 80's they still had wooden seat coaches that were not air conditioned. My partner at work and I would head for the Burnham, Ind. station during the afternoon rush hour on real hot days and watch the beauties out of the city get off the train. It was so hot in them coaches that most of them disembarked only partially clad if you get my drift. We'd see fat ones and thin ones, flat ones and well developed ones, what a sight and a good time.
