Wait for the large lake to freeze and you can skate on it, or just swim in it like it is (unless a train would derail into it. Lou

Sounds like way too much of a bargain to pass up, I mean to say the scenicing is superb and the real value would have to be the amount of track included, must have cost a motza for paint alone. Barry......]:)

Now you guys are making fun of my "dream layout". Those wide radius curves are just begging for a new Big-Boy. Can't you just see it hauling a long string of 40ft billboard refers? Wow! I'm getting really excited.... B-)

I think you could hollow out the innerds of the mountain to hide a yard and or a passing siding. It looks like there is a thick base so maybe a small helix leading to a yard under the mountain would work. Wouldn't it be neat to see five or six different trains chugging around that coffee table? One or two could be on the main at one time, disappear into the portal in the mountain and a completly different train come out the other side! Wow I bet you could even run HOn or what ever the designation is that runs HO size on N Scale track. Oh the possibilities. I say go for it!! Gene (PS of course you could have a z Scale er ah... never mind).

Gene, These layouts are ok if you want "cute", but I want a more realistic look to mine. That is why I gave up on the coffee table size and will build a larger layout with more operational options. With the coffee table size you are limited to an oval or figure eight or convoluted mess. Let me say it once more. I'm a serious model railroader, not a toy train operator. SmileyCentral.com

Update on planning this layout. It may become a Christmas tree layout instead. I can make it a little bigger and use it as a temporary Christmas layout with the tree in the middle much as I did in AZ with the old HO layout. I have to dig out the tree stand to determine the space it needs and then figure out just how much room I will have on the floor of the living room to get the final size of the layout. I have enough stuff to build a layout except for the track and cork. Planning, planning, planning. B-)

Build a domino. You know you want to. Too bad you couldn't make it a drawer style domino that slides out from under your larger layout. It could be done actually. Just need a good frame and quality drawer slides.
