Veteran's Day Contest

Here it is guys. The Vereran's Day Contest. Rememberance Day in Canada. Put on your thinking caps. This contest ends at midnight official ebay time on November 11, 2007. The rules are simple. Answer all 10 questions correctly and win the prize which is 24 Heki N scale evergreen trees, a picture of which is in Kim's Place. First post with all ten correct answers wins. In case no one gets all 10, the highest number correct wins. In case of a tie, there is a tie break question built in. Sneaky me. Here are the questions: 1. How long did the Hundred Years War last? 2. What country makes genuine Panama hats? 3. From what animal do we get catgut? 4. In which month do Russians celebrate the October Revolution? 5. What is a camel hair brush made of? 6. The Canary Islands in the Pacific are named after what animal? 7. What was King George VI's first name? 8. What color is the male purple finch? 9. Where are Chinese gooseberries from? 10. What color is the black box in a commercial airplane. Everybody knows the answer to that last one, right? Have fun with this. TheContestFadda B-)

Another oldie and one of my favorites! I used the email version of answers. If there are better, or should I say, more correct answers, I would love to see someone come up with them! Sorry Pete, this one just came in my email while I was away! (came from my cousin, she is probably wrong on at least some of them!) 1. How long did the Hundred Years War last? 116 years, from 1337 to 1453 2. What country makes genuine Panama hats? Ecuador (jipijapa) 3. From what animal do we get catgut? sheep and horses 4. In which month do Russians celebrate the October Revolution? November. The Russian calendar was 13 days behind ours 5. What is a camel hair brush made of? squirrel, goat, pony, bear, sheep or a blend of the above 6. The Canary Islands in the Pacific are named after what animal? Insula Canaria, meaning Island of the Dogs 7. What was King George VI's first name? Albert, "Bertie" to his family. 8. What color is the male purple finch? Purplish-red head, breast, back and rump, Carpodacus purpureus 9. Where are Chinese gooseberries from? New Zealand it is the Kiwi fruit. 10. What color is the black box in a commercial airplane. bright orange and generally located in the tail section of the aircraft -- Edited by crazyd37 at 10/22/2007 5:37 PM

No brains for this one CJ! I was away and my cousin emailed this one to me. Just a coincidence! I felt bad posting it, but perhaps since it is going around in email land, we can ask our prestigious leader to retract it with our deepest thanks for thinking of another contest! (hey, my cousin is blonder than I am and has more tatoos, so I can bet she didn't get the all the answers correct!) (Oh, sure you can see it, come on over!, you will then admit that it was truly a waste of gas and wonderment!)

Since I never received that email Dot I confer the contest won by you. Unless the leader wants to retract the contest at this time. Besides I don't do brain questions well at all (brain dead). I mean like where do the bury the surviors, on CBS's reality shows. Lou

I officially declare the contest over and Dot is the winner. I'll send you your prize Dot. As far as an email for this one, I am surprised. I got these questions from the 2007 Farmer's Almanac, Canadian edition. And the tie break question was #6. Even you got it wrong Dot. The Canary Islands are in the ATLANTIC not the Pacific. Trick question.......sneaky me. I have decided that this is the last contest I'll be running. I give away my stuff and then have to pay the high cost of shipping out of my pocket. No more folks. Sorry. TheCrabFadda

Pete, You could have deleted this contest as far as we are all concerned. Heck, I asked Tara (my cousin) about her email and she gave me several websites as to where she got the answers from. I guess its all over the net! http://www.whimsy.org.uk/quiz.html http://www.thejokester.net/Joke%20Archive/Archive05/012905.htm http://kids.niehs.nih.gov/easyquiz.htm http://sgtlizzie.blogspot.com/2005/02/goofy-stuff.html ...and she said there are many more. One of them even questioned the Atlantic/Pacific as you stated. Thanks for the thought! I knew this internet would have too much information one day! I wonder who stole it from who? The internet or the almanac!
