Here is a place for trips on trains. If you are in upstate NY or interested in themed train travel in the area here is a link. http://www.adirondackrr.com/index.php There are many different train excursions from wine tasting to Polar Express with Santa, Halloween trips to seniors trips, Murder Mystery trips etc. If you have similar excursions in your area post them in this thread. Home at last. I can barely keep my eyes open this morning with only three hours of sleep. Flight got in after midnight and it was about 2AM before I wound down to bed. Kim is at work. Hope she manages to stay awake. Anywho, there are some pictures of some old stored trains at Hamburg, NY. I found an old PA 2-10-0 Decapod and a couple of cabeese there. The old train station has a small hobby shop in it catering only to Lionel. The building is in sad shape so I didn't waste a picture on it. As you can see, Dad and Son finally met. Damn weather didn't cooperate and we had to dodge the rain drops. We ended up shortly after lunch at the Niagara ship museum where the inside pictures are taken. Due to shortness of time and the rain we didn't bother with the tour. The Niagara BTW was the flagship of Commadore Perry who defeated the British navy at the Battle of Lake Erie during the war of 1812, I believe. Next time we will plan it better. Suffice it to say, we had fun and wanted more time. We'll do it again Ernie. I promise. Pictures are in Princess's album. TheSleepyFadda PS: The booze I smuggled in my luggage made it OK. Whoopee! -- Edited by ginzokid at 08/07/2007 4:35 AM

Gene, No, we stayed in the one in Strasburg, PA. Here is the link: http://www.redcaboosemotel.com/ It was a unique experience. They were rustic and the one we stayed at had alot of cabooses! The unfortunate thing for us was it was a hot weekend and the air conditioning went and all they had to replace it was a fan. They offered nothing else but a feeble apology so the chances of us returning is NIL. The nice thing was the museum was in walking distance and there were several other "train" related things to do in an extremely short drive from the place. We had a blast except for the heat. If you should go to one of these caboose hotels it is a neat experience none-the-less! My sister and her hubby are going to one in W. Virginia in two weeks.
