Here is a link to Bar Mills Models on-line newspaper and information station. Art has 4 new on-line videos that you might find interesting. The first two are about Bar Mills Models itself. The next two are instructive videos. One on different types of glues and their use and the other on the new Bar Mills weathering powders. There are also pictures of some of the kits available. Enjoy. http://barmillsmodels.com/dailymoose_05A_05.html

It is not with the RR unfort....yet. But hopefully some experience from this new job will be something extra on the resume at least. It is with the Canada Commissionaires. but I won't be doing security guard stuff like you normally see them at. They do other stuff out here, identification services -fingerprints stuff, photoradar. It will keep me in this city and makes it easier to apply for RR jobs as I would just have to give 2 weeks notice, not do what I will for the next 30 days. Yes Pete, the driving force behind my motive for new career is that I get a pension as I completed my 20 years. (basically 2%/year= 40% current salary) Under 20 years, no pension though unless medical release. It will be weird once I'm done.

Must be nice. Get paid by the military and have another income too. Just think of all the lovely taxes you will be paying now. ]:) I have a buddy in AZ who is a retired Navy Chief and he is drawing both a military pension and a pension from his civilian job, besides Social Security. Nice!!!!! Me, I could never stick it out. Getting shot at many times was just not my cup of tea. So after two Nam tours, I said AMF!!!! That's Adios My Friend......sure it is...... B-)

I won't hold that against you Pete. You did your contribution of being there twice. Sometimes being in the line of fire and having a couple close ones is enuf to say time for a new job. Since I got in you could remuster, meaning after being in a trade for 3 years, you could change and go through as something else. Many sailors and army guys remuster into a trade that doesn't go away on end for long periods. Guys get tired of being at sea a lot and not see kids grow up in their first couple years. Like I said, I completed my 20, so I don't feel I owe the gov't of canada anything. In fact they owe me, after a year and half plus, a couple of us still haven't received our campaign star medal (for being in afghanistan for enuf days to be entitled) Just finished assembling a new coffee table in the livingroom. time for supper.

I had my release appt today so the official paperwork has started. The only part that sucks is my pension and severance pay take a couple 2-3 months to show up. So when do you start the new job? You might have to dig up some of your buried stash from the back yard to get by though......Oops? Was that a secret? Sorry...... :O -- I have to do a short course before I can start working.I'm guessing mid July. -- Edited by dl85vette at 05/23/2009 8:17 AM PDT

Attended mug out/beercall thing at work. Basically the squadron gets together for a bbq and beer and people get presented with promotions and/or present pictures for people posted, etc. SO between people promoted and posted and yours truly for my 'depart with dignity' program. Beings I completed 20 years, and retiring, I got presented with framed picture of the C130, another framed picture that people can sign. Plus my certificate of service, plus a letter from the premier of the province, letter from the mayor, letter from Chief of airstaff, and a letter from the prime minister. Plus the squadron flight safety team presentd me with a little gift. (metal dvd train movie set) Plus my misses got presented a letter of appreciation for chief airstaff and a bouquet of flowers. 9 days left.

Dave Congratulations on twenty years. Sounds like they have changed the out some than when I got released. All we got then was a mug from our sections and an honorable discharge certificate. Just 9 days of loafing around to go. Jack

Gees! All I got was a piece of paper saying Honorable Discharge and they even mailed that to me. No party at all! Well, what are you going to do with all those letters and stuff, frame them? B-)

Thanks Barry. Pete, not sure about the letters. I might just hang the cert of service as it is frame as well the herc photo. I'll find some hidden corner of basement to hang my military plaques...maybe.

As of 930 this am, I am retired....from my first career. Part 2 career in 2 weeks. Congranulations on your retirement! Are you going to stay in the Peg or move to a warmer climate like here? B-) Congartulations Dave on your retirement from the Service and I wish you well on your second career. You will find working on civvy street a lot different from the service,I know I did and it took awhile to climatise to the way of civilian life. Best of luck to you.
