The Daily Moose

Here is a link to Bar Mills Models on-line newspaper and information station. Art has 4 new on-line videos that you might find interesting. The first two are about Bar Mills Models itself. The next two are instructive videos. One on different types of glues and their use and the other on the new Bar Mills weathering powders. There are also pictures of some of the kits available. Enjoy. http://barmillsmodels.com/dailymoose_05A_05.html

Re: The Daily Moose

I'm making out ok. Saturday was a monsoon at one point.   Nothing leaked considering the amount that came down.  basement dry as usual too. No tree limbs broken, or power outages. Red River was actually swollen after the rain the previous week, It will definately be high now. Other parts of city and province hit hard.

Happy 4th of July!!!!!!!

Someone asked me if we had a 4th of July in Canada. Then I wondered if there was a 4th of July in OZ. I think England has a 4th of July though. So, yes I believe we have a 4th of July in Canada. 😉

Re: The Daily Moose

Won't be a happy 5th or 6th of July when that hurricane makes its way to you Pete.

Had a walking test today.  Covered more distance than last appt but not close to where I was last october. worst part is stomach issues are coming back so possible need to go on a new drug. and the fun of what's that gonna cost me?

Re: The Daily Moose

West coast is going to get the storm. East coast is skipping this one thank you. We had a little rain last night, but no big wind. I think it will finally die once it hits the "big land". For you landlubbers, that is Labrador.

I guess there really is a July 4th all over the world. I can't seem to find a calandar without one. 😉

Re: The Daily Moose

Saw the news last night. Flooding a lot worse than I thought for MB.  From Brandon towards the 'peg.  I know the river within the city is high but we have the floodway to divert the water around the city. See what transpires through the week for the province.

Re: The Daily Moose

Have been very busy getting plastered. Yep. You heard me right. I have been getting plastered every day all this week. Of course I am doing this in the dungeon out of sight of the general populace. It's not a pretty sight!!! White everywhere!!!

Re: The Daily Moose

Pete,

You should post a picture now and then of your progress.  Although if you are really, really plastered, it might be hard to operate a camera.

All the best,

Charles

Re: The Daily Moose

This is not trains, but we have been doing some rejuvenation and painting on the pump house that came with the pool at our Midlothian house:

The Midlothian Pump House Repaint in Progress - 2014-07-28.jpg

It was white (and other colors in the past from the scrapings...) but we picked some other colors (paint is expensive too, but we like the looks so far).

All the best,

Charles

Re: The Daily Moose

Now that I like......the pool that is. Could have used one last night to cool off. It was so humid (how humid was it?) that I had to change my pillow out. First one got soaked with sweat from my brow. Slept with the ceiling fan on high, the covers off and (TMI) something else off......Yeow!!! Tonight I'll try an ice bag on my.....forehead. I'm melting........

Re: The Daily Moose

I don't want summer to end but really want to get through work in next 2 weeks and go on my vacation.

I'm looking forward to it even if there are some limitations for health reasons. But that plays a small part in the trip. The other 90 % trip is unaffected.  I wasn't able to see much of it in Omaha, but this trip will expose me to a lot of Uniion Pacific. It will be quite a change from BNSF not that I tire from that. Gotta build up a map pack/intinuary,etc kind of package.  Nothing worse than forgetting to write something down and then drive past it and remember on the way home. Done that before.

Re: The Daily Moose

Nope.

What I meant of making map packs, etc, was the roads I wanted to take or sights I wanted to see, have it all written down in the order of direction of travel. So for example, I owuld have a note on the map or notebook is a reminder that when in Alliance, take road # to see Car Henge..   Or a note to remind to get wife to take shot while on overpass going over rr yard in cheyenne, WY to get a shot of the RR control tower with the big UP logo shield. or when in X town, to go to XXX vineyard tour. or address of hobby shop along the route wherever,etc....   Nothing worse than going to Fargo and then forget to go the liquor barn (Happy Harry's Bottle Shop)  and pick up some more X brand bbq sauce that I cant get up here.

Maybe as a joke I'll put a note saying : "remember to take wife along on the trip"

I'm not an anal traveller. I just like planning some stuff so I know ahead of time or know how much driving involved. SOme people go hey lets go here, then realize underway that it is 9 hours away when they thought it looked like 4. if that makes sense. I looked at driving times and found out that to drive to denver it would cut out some stuff we''d wanna see. so our back plans if not flying, wouldn't include colorado.

2 weeks to go!!!!
