I think we skipped the end of July and august out here as the sun is hot but the air is quite cool. The air feels like that of mid Sept.
Went from the A/C running 24/7 to it turned off for last couple days.

Did some searching on youtube for airbrushing with nail polish and found a guy with video clinics on airbrushing. Well done videos and quite inspirational. If it wasn't for this bloated stomach thing I've had for 2 days, I'd be more inclined to try to do some modelling.
Shoot me please. these emoticons really suck.

Help! I'm a cleaning lady! Kim hired a day maid and now she expects me to help out with the vaccuming etc. Just because Randy is coming she goes into a cleaning frenzy. She actually expects me to clean up the train room. What is she...crazy?
Emoticons? Must have been designed by a three year old.

Isn't that counter productive getting you to help the maid? Actually isn't that the whole point of getting a maid so one doesn't have to clean?
What does she mean clean the train room? Aren't our train rooms and garages the most immaculate rooms in a house?
mother in law mocked me because I wouldn't let her store a couple boxes of wife's books in my garage. (their garage is one fo those that you can't walk from one side to the other due to amount of boxes and junk n stuff piled up)
If you had my illness you wouldn't be able to lift the vacuum cleaner and carry it around the house. hehehe
Gotta run and go to clinic to get my belly looked at. If I'm pregnant Pete, you can be its codfadda.

What is a "Spoiler" in the middle of your last post Dave?
The house is really clean. Now I really do have to get at the layout. You know. Take off all the stuff I am storing on the track and surface spaces so I can really run the trains when Randy gets here. I have lots of room for storage under the layout. This will really show me just how much I have to do to finish the scenery.
Is it twins?

Spoiler thingy? I ht some button that brought up a text box and I couldn't get rid of it. You shouldn't be surprised since all these onderful upgrades ebay did to the groups.
No twins. My family doctor is young so he isn't afraid to send out for tests. Apparently my last blood test showed something about my liver enzymes which no one told me anything about, so He got me to get samples drawn yesterday and he is putting in a request for ultrasound on my abdomen. He mentioned something abut gallbladder and to avoid greasy food and take zantac.. I'm hoping it was something temporary instead of more things wrong with me. (it could take a month before I get in for ultrasound)
Next week routine blood test for INR count- determines my dosage of warfarin I need to take.
Dropped truck at garage last night so we'll see how much work my brakes need. Just over $900 for new tires and another 400 for spring shackles. Maybe I'll get lucky and just need the rears adjusted. I don't know what it is about my bronco II I had and this truck. The brakes are crap. Seems like the rears always need adjusting from time to time. I hate drum brakes to begin with. Think all the new trucks now have disks on the back.
08-01-2013 02:57 PM
Brakes are shot all aorund. Actually the rears just need shoes. Front pads/rotors are worn out. Can you say "OWWWW"???
I changed the rotors and pads myself before but I honestly think it would be hard on me this time with my health. I wish I could do it to save some cash. But garage can get a better price on the parts than me buying them myself. So it is the labour that costs extra.
\Actually I think those are the same rotors/pads I installed back in summer 2006? So with city driving, they held up.
If all this money I dumped into the truck can keep it runnning for another couple years then it beats car payments.

All cars are just money pits. Ran over a screw last week and tire warranty didn't cover it because it was in the sidewall. Needed a new tire. Dealer was kind enough to cover the cost for once though. How does a screw get into the sidewall anyway?
Have to cut the grass today. I hate yard work!

$850 later. No point in me trying to do the front brakes myself in my current shape. garage gave me better prices for parts than what I'd have to pay at a parts place.
Every vehicle is gonna need tires at some point so really, the only unexpected repairs were the spring shackles and the brake. So hard to complain with it being a '98 with 280,000km. Ford did some thing right with the truck's construction. Still have the original rad, gastank, and exhaust.
At least now the truck is safe to drive and good tires for rain. Oiece of mind for when we finally get down to Fargo later this month.
My scooter broke down couple weeks ago and managed not to have a heart attack pushing it home (bad idea). Anyway it was a double wammy. Spark plug was pretty worn down and the plug wire was toast. So it is back to reliable. Think I already mentioned that before as the price for plug wire was insane.
All right, back when in in laws were visiting, they bought us a new stove and then our dryer started to burn clothes, so she ordered a new dryer for us. In April before I got real ill, our washer packed in and had to buy a new one on a sunday afternoon.
Houses are money pits too. All the appliances I had bought in 2002 are now gone. Fridge packed in in 2009. microwave is the last appliance standing. hahah.
Not even worth trying to fix some of these things anymore. Sears had a deal on that if you use your Sears card you get 60% off on certain marked down appliances. So that was when the mother in law bought us a flat cooktop stove/oven. I think te stove ended up like $250 plus tax.
I like the flat top surface. No more stuff leaking outta pots and under the burners and trim rings. And best of all, EASY to clean. 🙂

We tried one of those flat top ceramic stoves and gave it back after one week. Couldn't control the heat properly and kept burning everything. You do have to use a special ceramic cleaner on them you know. The surface scratches easily with the wrong cleanser.

Brother Randy arrives in the wee hours of the morning tonight or is it tomorrow. Anywho.....I'll be busy getting to know him for a while, so don;t expect much from me this coming week.
08-06-2013 03:48 AM
Randy is here and we are busy doing the tourist things. I'll have him tired out by the end of the week.
08-08-2013 03:46 AM
Burnin' up the old highway daily with all the tourist travel stuff. We are getting fat too with all this eating out. Two more days and they will be going home. Last night they both came over to the club layout for an ops session and really got caught up in it. Maybe I have created a new model railroader in Randy. Maybe.

Pete,
We were doing some touristy stuff last week. We went camping in Allegany State Park in NY with Daughter & Son-inlaw & his extended family for the week. A little warm during the days and nice and cool at night. We did not even get eaten by bears (yea). The park is in the southwest just over the boarder from PA. It is 90 miles south of Niagara Falls, so we took a day trip to the falls, first time ever for that. It was impressive, though we stayed in the US since we don't have passports.... We will have to get passports so we can see the falls from Canada, we will likely be back next year.
All the best,
Charles
PS if Dave in pregnant, the question is steam of diesel, not twins... 🙂 ...

Hey Charles,
Did you drive up route 219 through Hamburg and Salamanca on the way to the falls? Hamburg is my home town. I sort of miss that area of the country. We always camped in Allegany State Park in the summer. And in the winter there are ski slopes in the area where we used to go "sheing".
