My new N scale Shay should be here soon. I think that June is the Canadian F7 release also. B-)

Got one of the new release MRL bulkheads as a buy now, with postage still cheaper than the price will be here and I don't have to wait about 3 months for it to be here, still buying more hotwheels cars that I can't find here, if I only lived in the states I could buy new releases and save a heap on postage and get the cars I want as well. Barry.....;)

My MTL Canada loco arrived today at LHS. I have it on layaway for the times being. I bought it because I have the cars but I won't be running any of them. Loco doesn't impress me for looks but that's because I like the big GPs and SDs for locos.

Dave, I don't have mine yet, but I'm with you from what I can see in the photos. That's why I bought a Bachmann 2-8-0 in CP livery to pull it. I also wish the cars had been 40 footers. B-)

Picked up another MRC sound decoder. I'm getting tired of not being able to rreassemble my kato sd40-2 so bought the decoder. IRRITATION- LOTS of machining required. the machining in fuel tank area is no biggie. It's the fair bit of material needs to be machined on top of chassis for the decoder to fit (due to components on decoder board) So I'm a little hessitant to do that much but I am sure I can do it. Just don't rush at it. I'll look at the frame again tomorrow and perhaps I'll feel more adventurous. What's the worst that can happen, F**k the frame up and having to wait 4 months for a new frame from Kato? I shaded the areas (requiring milling) with a marker and it loos to be all areas where there is meat. (thicker portions of frame that looks like I can shave down, plus not affecting motor/mounts journals, etc. feeling human today, dave

You see why I don't do that kind of work and stick to buying the stuff that is "factory". After having put sound into two large locos with all that room, well not really, but much easier than N scale, I'm surely glad I am in the larger scale now. That's why the N I'm planning on will be strictly analog and DC. No fancy stuff. B-)

Sometimes I thrive for the challenge of stuff like this,Pete. I wouldn't have the patients to deal with a wooden kit missing parts, etc but you did it. We have our own ideas of challenges. I think I am gonna take on the frame instead of a refund. At least MRC is coming out with a sound decoder for the Kato SD70 so surely the deicder itself will fir without milling. Just the spkr will need to be milled into the frame which is easy enuf. Millmaster* D *only saying that for my confidence. I am in no way a master 😉

Have you checked with Aztec yet to see if John has already done a mill job for that engine? Buy one on exchange and then you can copy the rest of your fleet. Just an idea. He's a good guy. Have spoken to him many times. B-)

Got all the heavy milling done which went quite quick & well. Still have to try the decoder for fit as it has to slide into some tabs/grooves so they might still need some filing/machining. The filings flying off motor tool makes such a mess on the work table. perhaps I shoulda bagged it all up and sold it on ebay as scale metal scrap load.

Found one of those 'Hobbytown USA' shops in Grand Forks. They are nothing too thrilling. They try to have some of everything so when you try that, model cars and RR's are gonna suffer. I was more impressed with their selection of tools,etc.... My only goal was to try to get some Testors Model Master metallizer paints. So I stocked up on 4 or 5 bottles. So I should be good for a while. Can't get that stuff in Canada anymore. Also picked up a wood statue of a bear sitting and fishing that was carved out of a log with a chainsaw. it's no more than a foot tall so just a small guy.
