New Christmas Tree Layout

Today I hit the lumber yard for some plywood, boards, screws, etc. I'm going to build a new HO layout for the tree. After last year's running it on the carpet, I decided I needed more work to do. Right. So, I'll post pics and reports as I go along. We are going to dismantle the dining table and store it in the basement for the season. That is the space I need for this layout. We don't feed anybody but us in the kitchen during the holidays anyway, so we don't really need the table. Well, gotta get started...... SmileyCentral.com

Re: New Christmas Tree Layout

You need the tree and decorations now. We have two trees up, and one decorated. No trains around any yet. Charles

Re: New Christmas Tree Layout

Our tree is up and we have one of those big probably out of scale battery operated Christmas steam trains running around the tree, the cat loves to watch it until the whistle sounds then she hisses at it, first time it happened Fay and I fell on the floor laughing, but as they say, it's all about the fun, isn't it. ]:)

Re: New Christmas Tree Layout

Posted some more pics of the layout as far as I am taking it this year unless I happen to get another building done. I'll post pics when we have the tree up on it. Started on Oct 21st. Missed a few days, but I don't think I did too bad of a job, so far. I guess you could say this was really a seven week project. So enjoy the pictures and just for kicks, run the slide show in each album for a time lapse look at the work. It's funny. B-) -- Edited by ginzokid at 12/09/2008 4:57 AM PST

Re: New Christmas Tree Layout

Anyone want to see a short 60 second video of the tree layout? Send me your email address: ginzokid@hotmail.com And I'll send it along. This is before the tree is in place and yes there is sound. I'll do another one once the tree goes up which will be today. B-)

Re: New Christmas Tree Layout

the pics and the video are great, I can only see one problem, theres no room for presents or is santa only bringing diamonds and gold to your house this year. ]:) Black diamonds I'm afraid.....you know....coal! I was a bad boy. ;-) -- Edited by ginzokid at 12/15/2008 4:12 AM PST

Re: New Christmas Tree Layout

I didn't actually mean for you, surely Kim has been a good girl, or at least extremely understanding :^O ]:) Kimmers is a bookaholic. I have been stockpiling books for a couple of months now so she will get a big box full of new reading material. My gift was the money to spend on the tree layout. We don't really need anything much anymore, just each other. B-) -- Edited by ginzokid at 12/15/2008 8:40 AM PST

Re: New Christmas Tree Layout

Fay is a bookaholic as well, I have a few books set aside for her, but a nice perfume always goes down well too, I just bought a new compound mitre saw so I can rebuild the bathroom so I guess thats my present this year, we really don't need much either just each other, does this come with age or just being together for so long. ]:) Yes I think it is a case of age and being together for such a long time. After fifty years with my lady this spring I sometimes wonder if I still really know all her ins and outs. As has been mentioned above,at our age we pretty well have everything we need but I always try to surprize her with a small expensive gift both for her birthday and Christmas. Re: New Christmas Tree Layout

Pretty cool Pete, I watched them all a couple times. I was able to drag-n-drop them into quicktime and play them one after the other. I kept expecting to see smoke from the loco. The scenery worked out well, the trees are a really nice touch. We all still get presents, we have been married 30 years, but our youngest (who is now taller than me) is just 15. Of course since you are still playing with trains, you have not lost all your youth.... :^O Merry Christmas! Charles

Re: New Christmas Tree Layout

Kimmers is allergic to jewelry, really, and many people around here are scent allergic at her work, so she doesn't wear much perfume. The last bottle I bought her 10 years ago is still 3/4 full. So, for a treat, beside the books, I usually get her a very expensive bottle of VSOP cognac. I hate the stuff myself, so it is all hers. Now I have a decision to make. Which building do I do first for the tree layout: Wicked Wanda's, Four Fingered Tony's Meat Market, Saulena's, Stiph's Undertaker, Booty Corner or Grandma'a House? B-)
