Model Train Shows

FYI Just found this on-line last night and thought I would mention it here. http://www.allentowntrainmeet.com/ This train group puts on a rather large train show 2 times a year and opens it to the public. Ed & I are hoping to go on Saturday the 26th, if the snow doesn't come! There is another train show in Edison, NJ the following weekend. (March 5-6) (Greenberg) I know that most of you don't live in this area, but for those that do!! Dot

Dot, I used to live in Edison. My first ex still works at Camp Kilmer in Edison. Oh, yeah. She's an Army "lifer" too like our son Chris. Son outranks mother though. Small world. B-)

We live about 1 1/2 hours from Edison in case we can't make the Allentown show. We just checked the weather channel and they said slight chance of snow for Sat afternoon, so we may still be able to go to the Allentown show. The gentleman emailed me today regarding tickets and told me they sold over 900 already and we can get them at the door. Sounds like a good show! I can hardly wait. At least there are 2 shows in this area for a change. We don't often get any! There is a small show in Dover, NJ in April but like I said, it is small. Dot Pete, have you heard from Chris lately?

Most of the New England shows start in March and go through April. I've got to find a schedule, the shaow at the Big E in Springfield Ma, should be coming up soon as well as the one in Burlington Vt. Punk

Hey guys, The shows are all listed in MR each month. Not just the GATS, but also the local shows. It is worth the price of admission just to browse the magazine at the LHS. You might even buy the darn thing too. ;) B-)

All, Well we went to the train show to beat all trains shows today! Whew are we tired, and broke! So much N-scale and soooo much walking. It was huge! We scored 25 micro-train cars, a Penn GG1 (Ed has been looking for one of those for a long time) he also got his corrugated passenger cars! I got 2 more cars, actually truck kits. (a fire truck and a cement truck) A snow plow, several other cars for the layout, some tools, etc. Most everything was new and mostly 20-75% off retail We couldn't believe it! We have banned each other until June from buying anything else rr related unless it is paint or glue. Do you think we will make it? This would make a good contest! Anyway, very tired, going to go and try out the GG1 for awhile. DZ

You know, I offered Ed a private bet on who could hold out longer and he WOULDN'T take it! What a guy. His response was something like: if I loose I have to give you $100 in model train money. Sounds like he is trying to loose this one. I am so not worried now! DZ

I sure will TRY to make it....... I'll have to check with our "Entertainment Co-ordinator" (that would be Denise ;)) and see if we are already "booked" for that day. But I am going to TRY to make it ONE of the days the show is in town, under any circumstances. WOW!!! Right here in MY "Hometown"! Marc
