Pete, Tell her that many of the 08 cars are out now! If I were you I would go buy myself a car and use the Fucus for backup. You know, back up to the Ford dealer and back down then backup... ad infinitum Gene

Go for a 2007, the savings on end of year cars are pretty decent. Plus you don't have to fix a trade-in, the dealer will take care of that. CJ]:)

I agree with CJ. That car you have is a friggin lemon dude. I'm surprised you can even see with that glaring yellow paint coming from it and the citric odor. Tade it in. I wouldn't even try getting thru the winter with it as I know we will see posts here from the Ford dealer. Winter is a lousy time to be stranded with a breakdown. Just my humble 3 cents from a car guy.. dave

Go for it Pete, put your foot down before you have to walk everywhere, they were only an experiment with Ford anyway, like all the other little crappers Ford put their name on and then abandoned, if you are gonna drive a Ford it might as well be a real one. ]:)

You all know where I am this morning. We have to fix it to sell it privately. Trade-in offer was only $500. I can get more for it privately. I'm looking at Chevy or Saturn for a station wagon now. Hope they make one. I do not want any form of suv or crossover. If the fix is reasonable, we may get through the winter with it. You guys act like money grows on trees. It doesn't. If I'm going to buy a new car, whay would I buy a year old car, 2007, if the 2008s are out? I'll see what the fix brings and may have to work on Kim again to buy a new one. B-)

An option to consider Pete is Lease-Buy-Backs. that's how I got my truck. It was 2 years old when i bought it. The prev leaser didn't want to buy it when lease was up so back to Ford. So I got it at it's value for a used vehicle (as you know when you drive off the lot with a new vehicle the value just dropped) Beings it was leased it had to be taken care of and dealer maintained, and also they can't rack up mileage without penalty. We realise money don't grow on trees but when you spend as much on monthly repairs as a car payment then that's a sign. When you have to fix something every second month, that's sign. If they are only giving you 500 for the car then you know even if sold privately for a bit more then these repairs are costing more than the car is worth. You dumped a pile of money in that car since xmas. Also Pete, if you don't rack much mileage perhaps a lease even. After 3 year lease it goes back (if you choose not to buy it out) before it turns into a lemon. Trying trying to help without sending money 😉

Pete, I'm sure we'd all send money ...but then you would have to come pick us up and give us all a ride! Gene PS listen to Dave he is giving some good down home Canadian advice. There even should be some good lightly used 4X4's with a snowplow that you coud use to make some money out on the rock!! Then all your worries would be over!

Ford is fixed and for free yet! It was a broken left front spring and apparently there was some hidden recall that replaced it for free. Meanwhile.......see new purchases thread. ;-)

Pete, Saturn did make a station wagon, and not sure if they still do or not. The SUV's and crossovers make have taken over that one also. Also have heard more good news on a Saturn then on most other cars on the road, and is a totally American made car. Lou

Lou, No Saturn wagon this year, but next year one is planned. I was leaning that way, but we needed a new car now, while Kim was willing to spend the money, if you know what I mean. The Chevy dealer here is also the Saturn dealer so I got the skinny. B-)

Go for it before the wind changes and the mind goes with it. Most married men understand that all too well. Sorry Momma Dot but is life of the fast and slow track. Lou
