All this waiting and the airforce Reserves job is going south. Lack of funding for fulltime positions.

Re: Irritations #2

I think I should just give up on Micro Trains altogether, another wasted month of releases, Z scale certainly looks more inviting these days not. ]:)

Re: Irritations #2

Anybody here ever order from Internet Trains? I did on March 4th and here it is March 31st and they haven't processed my order yet! Again, is it because I'm in a "foreign" country? I'm waiting for a reply to my email question of "what is taking so long?" Barry, MT has been trying to break into the HOn3 market too. The Z scale releases are another "almost" monopoly as Z scale seems to be a mostly European phenomenon for followers. N scale is abound with many manufacturers and of course MT supports the Collectors Society which concentrates only on MT products it seems. I miss the old IM kit cars. Now everything is RTR and that takes half the fun out of the hobby for me. B-)

Re: Irritations #2

truck is leaking coolant out of the block heater freeze plug. Seems to leak more so when engine hot so it isn't big puddles in driveway, yet it lost quite few liters of coolant. No wonder I couldn't get heat in the cab last night. Couldn't find anything in manual with respect to it being pressed-fit or threaded.

Re: Irritations #2

I had a '73 Mustang that blew freeze plugs once a week. Press fit. Finally had the Ford tech rep come to look at it. They put in the screw in rubber type and had same problem. Ford finally gave me a rebuilt engine for free. Never did figure out what was wrong with it. Did I mention that it was a 429CI crate racing engine? Do you think I did something wrong while driving it? Second one was just fine! I finally traded it in on my '86 Vette. Much better car....the Vette I mean. I miss it. Finally heard from Internet Trains. They are under new ownership and trying to catch up. We shall see if I ever get the kits. B-) -- Edited by ginzokid at 04/10/2010 12:36 PM PDT

Re: Irritations #2

Well time for another update of sorts. She heard from the government on her disability claim. Simple answer was NO. We will appeal the decision and pray they are proved wrong, as they are. If I could get them to live with her for a week they would beg us to take the money. But am setting up just in case we don't win this time. Will wait and file all over again in the future. Anyway, most everything else is going ok. Well except that one of the cat's had a long visit with the vet. She is doing as well as #500 plus can do, slowly gaining her strength back. I am still drawing up different smaller track plans in down sizing the train layout. Anyway, hope everyone else is doing ok and is in excellent health and well being. Lou

Lou, If you are claiming from Social Security for the disability, contact Binder & Binder. They helped out Ernie when he was turned down. B-) PS: Link http://binderandbinder.com/ -- Edited by ginzokid at 04/19/2010 8:17 AM PDT

Re: Irritations #2

New wrinkle in the Internet Trains order. I finally received it yesterday.....but.......in the package were two HO scale Bachmann DCC turnouts. I ordered two O scale craftsman kits. So.........I called them and was told they were just about to contact me because a customer of their's in BRAZIL (say what!!!!) was very confused. He got my kits. They at first wanted me to reship the package to Brazil for them, for reimbursement of course, but I blew up at that idea. How stupid of them. I said I'd ship it back to them in California for reimbursement of course. The rep said she would call me back after she talked to the new owner. The upshot, which is the right way to treat a customer, is that they will reship what I ordered at no cost to me and I can keep the turnouts. So I have something to sell on ebay now. I hope I finally get the two kits. Frankly, I'll never do business with them again. B-)

Re: Irritations #2

Hopefully, you don't end up with 4 turnouts LOL. ]:) If that happens.....maybe I'll open a hobby shop! :^O -- Edited by ginzokid at 04/24/2010 2:47 AM PDT

Re: Irritations #2

Took the car in yesterday for a noise underneath. Turns out that the exhaust heat shield had rusted loose and had to be welded back into place. Meanwhile they discovered a blown seal on the transmission and are keeping my car until they can get the parts shipped in; 2 to 3 days from now. So now I have a rental which I hate! It's a Chevy Cobalt. No guts, no frills and rough riding. Life is never simple is it...... At least the repairs and rental are under warranty. The damn car is only 3 years old and it's rusting out already? Good old Newfoundland winter salt!!! X-( -- Edited by ginzokid at 06/22/2010 4:26 AM PDT

Re: Irritations #2

Gee I must be hard on cars! The Cobalt rental broke down. Key would not turn in the ignition. Soooooo, they came out to give me another car.....a 2009 Impala. Now we are talking here! I'll say this for Enterprise, they really do come to you. The guy that delivered the car, and I was at the supermarket, took a cab back to the office. That's service. Still no word on my buggy though..... :_|

My daughter's 2007 Nissan Pathfinder just broke a rod. They have to replace the entire engine. CJ]:)

Re: Irritations #2

This should be fun!....NOT! Took the rental back and they discovered a scratch that they insist was not there before I took posession of it. I went ballistic! X-( My fault for not double checking the rental agent who noted "all" the scratches. I did not cause that scratch for sure, but now they are sending the car to the body shop for an estimate of repairs forwhich they intend to bill me. I did not pay for their extra insurance, never do. We could end up in court over this if they persue the bill which I will not pay. Stay tuned for the next chapter....if it happens. ]:)
