Re: Irritations #2

I have a set of background scenes up for auction. The description says they are 24" high by 36" long. Today I had a bidder ask me how big they were. GRRRRRRR!!!! X-(

Re: Irritations #2

So here I am building this beautiful On30 caboose kit only to find that I don't have the right trucks and wheels for the kit. Darn!!!!! So I hop to the internet to find the right ones and no one, not a single hobby shop in Canada or on-line shopping has them. They are made by Grandt Line out of California so I can't call them yet. Then I remember my favorite narrow gauge oriented hobby shop in Phoenix, Coronado Hobbies, and I called Sheldon, the owner and struck gold. Sheldon must be in his 80s by now and when he and his brother go, that will be the end of some very extensive narrow gauge knowledge. Anyway, we had a nice chat, and the trucks are coming. The real irritation is that everyone else said they could order them for me, even Walthers was out, but I need them NOW!!!!! I'm giong to miss the brick and mortar hobby shops when they all close......aren't you? :-( PS: The phone company made a haul today at my expense. Should have called Sheldon first! -- Edited by ginzokid at 01/29/2010 8:20 AM PST

Re: Irritations #2

I already miss them... Charles Well, having only a little poorly organized N scale items is about the same as not there...

Re: Irritations #2

hahah. shoulda called me first Pete and got me to make calls. I have unlimited long dist calls in Can & USA. I like LHS that have most things in stock. I don't like these places that will order it for you. Sometimes you have to SEE the item first to know if it is what you want or if it will work on your layout. The LHS I work at occassionally was out of flex track so I had to go to a competitor. I NEED the track this weekend so I can start the loop and helix for my PRB coal sub.

Re: Irritations #2

Actually guys I have 5 cent/min plan to all of North America (so who calls Mexico?) 24/7. I just like to embellish the story...... I should have called you Dave. I forgot you work in a hobby shop. Bet you didn't have it anyway. It was a rare set of trucks by Grandt Line. Next time I need something I'll call you.......do I get a discount? :^O

Re: Irritations #2

In the N group there is a new member who told Barry he wanted to learn about DCC, so I posted a little note giving him some sort of an introduction. No response yet and I'll bet there won't be one either. I'm getting really fed up with the whole deal here. X-( -- Edited by ginzokid at 02/11/2010 4:09 AM PST

Re: Irritations #2

LHS manager told me yesterday that he won't be able to bring in Testors Paint, Floquil or polly scale for some time as distrib can't send it to him because the containers don't have safety caps or french on the labels. god damned bekkers (people from quebec)!!!! If you live outside canada, DON'T ever let there become an official secnd language. Is is more than just putting french on roadsigns. %$%^$^%$&$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did I mention I hate quebec??

Re: Irritations #2

I think he is pulling your leg Dave. My Testors spray cans are bi-lingual even though they are made in Rockford, Illinois. My 7mil enamel bottles are also bi-lingual and made in Weston, Ontario. My bi-lingual Floquil is made by Testors of Weston, Ont. Just what is a safety cap anyway? There is nothing special about what I have here. So just what is his problem? If you are having trouble getting paints, try mail order from Credit Valley Railway Co in Mississauga. 905-823-8908. They will be happy to mail it to you. B-) PS: I hate Quebec too!!! Press 1 for english in an english speaking Provence. Rediculous!! :-p -- Edited by ginzokid at 02/11/2010 8:55 AM PST

Re: Irritations #2

Odd. He gets a lot of stock thru Walthers. They might have better pices for him than another distrib that has the stuff bilingual. -Still goes back to BS having to have frogcois on the labels of pop, chips, soap, etc. Thanfully no bekker language in my vette for instrumentation, etc. Press 1 to separate from quebec.

Re: Irritations #2

Pete, glad to hear that Kim is doing better and hope you get an answer to the cause. Everything here is about the same. She did go the the .Gov doctor and that went okay. But this coming Sat. she has to see another .Gov doctor concerning her short term memory. So since they gave some time to prepare for it she may remember to go. Anyway she has been cleared to drive again and is slowly getting behind the wheel, just not in the weather we are having here, snow once or twice a week. Not much, 2 to 4 inches or so each time. Sorry for the long time between contacts, but I have been trying to keep up with many things at the same time. Will try to do better. Thanks for your thought's and prayers. Lou PS Will start working on the RR soon, she remembered that is my hobby interest.

Re: Irritations #2

See my post in progress and realize that I came up under the benchwork yesterday in the wrong place and nearly knocked myself out. I have a big lump on the top of my head now......but the work is done. :_| OUCH!

Re: Irritations #2

While trimming cork roadbed with exacto knife, didn't realize than part of the blade went farther than the tip which I was watching, as a result cutting the wires off an installed turnout. Motor replacement for turnout...$12. cost of stupidity...priceless. It was even a new turnout I had bought last week. Don't be messing with laying track before going to work.
