You say you only have two local TV stations, when we first moved here we had one channel, it kicked of at 1pm and then closed at 10pm, I can't remember the amount of times we would be watching a movie and sure enough 10 pm and shut down without seeing the end of the movie, it was very entertaining to say the least, now days if you sit up after midnight you have a selection of half hour infomertials, now that's entertainment of the highest calibre, we had satelite for 12 months and got totally sick of watching shows I used to watch when I was a kid, maybe if they had something new from time to time it might be OK, DVDs are still the much better option

63 channels available and I only watch 4......unless there is a good old 1940's B&W movie on TCM or AMC then it turns into 6 channels. One for news, one for weather, two for sports and two for movies. The rest are junk and I include all 4 network channels. Never watch them. If it weren't for my sports I'd drop the cable and listen to the radio or CDs like you Barry. Actually I enjoy my 78s and LPs too. Whoo, Hoo! Showing my age......
B-)
I wonder if my LP collection is different to yours, Rolling Stones, Tina Turner, Janis Joplin, Jimmy Hendrix, Led Zepplin do I go on, I have some interesting rock albums and an S tone arm diamond stylus direct drive turn table still top of the range for the eightys LOL
]:)
My direct magnetic drive Lab420 from Radio Shack is 1980s vintage. Diamond stylus manual counterbalanced arm. The plastic hinged top got broken when we moved here, but I glued it together and it still keeps the dust off. It is 4 speed: 16, 33, 45 and 78 and the speed is adjustable within those ranges.
The vinyl collection is John Denver, Chicago, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Mathis, Herb Alpbert, Eagles, CSN&Y, Carpenters and various collection series like The Rock of the 50's and 60's. It's a varied list but no acid or hard rock like your collection. I never understood Hendrix. He was popular with a lot of the guys in Nam, but so was country western, something I absolutely avoid, almost as much as I avoid Springstein. Whenever he comes on the radio I immediately change the station. Ask Kim. I just can't stand his music. The man can't carry a tune which is why his music is always so loud and full of the band behind him. Now I'll take the Righteous Brothers or Kenny Rogers or Sheena Easton or The Beatles even over Bruce. I've said my piece.

Funny how with some music you just can't get into it.
I was always into heavy metal but (the guy is great player) I could never really get into Hendrix. Same with Black Sabbath. There's a few songs I like but that's it. Same with Pink Floyd, like a couple songs. The movie 'The Wall' was something you had to be doing some form of recreational drug. I think the same goes for Easy Rider movie. I picked up a couple hard to find movies a few weeks ago that should be in a car guy's collection; 2 Lane Blacktop and Vanishing Point. Both of them have weird endings and the whole story line/ pace has something to it where I think you would have been smoking something when the movies came out originally.
Hehehe. Turning off the radio sounds familiar. I was doing that on midnights everytime they played a song by 'Kings of Leon'
Pete. didn't you know Springstein is up there with Dylan as the best singers in the world? NOT!!!!!!! World's greatest mumblers maybe.

You just nailed it! Mumblers! Forgot another of my favorite groups.....Queen. Also like Procol Harem, Lynrd Skynrd and some ZZ Top. But my absolute favorite type of music is jazz followed by swing. I should have been born in the fortys. Wait. I WAS! That's why I love old B&W movies too. My favorite vocalist is Diana Krall. Have any of you heard Il Divo? Beautiful voices.
