Forced to use Paypal

I have had an on-going dispute with a buyer who says he sent a cashier's check to pay for an item. I'm usually a patient man, but this guy has had 26 days to get me a check. I keep watching my mailbox, but nothing comes. I know that the mail is slow, but 26 days for a letter sized envelope? Please! So I relisted the item and filed a dispute. Hopefully I will get my fees back. It's not much, but anything helps. Now I am going to piss off a lot of people, but I will no longer take checks. Just Paypal and I state that in my listing. I also require immediate payment for a BIN and will only wait 7 days for a regular Paypal payment. I hate to do this, but I have had enough with non-paying bidders. This guy will get a NEG too. Re: Forced to use Paypal

I don't think you will tick off people Pete. I can't believe you're nice enuf to take cheques. I used to accept M.O. but I don't do that anymore as I have to wait for them to get a M.O and mail it. I want whatever money fast. Whether it is BIN or auction I put in descript that payment is expected in 6 days. I had one guy send a echegue thru paypal so I had to wait 4 or 6 days for it to clear but no t a complete inconvenience. No more burning my gas to cash in a M.O for 6 bucks,etc.. No matter how good something looks, I will not bid on it if seller doesn't do paypal. Don't wanna think how much money was spent over years for cost of a M.O and stamp.

Re: Forced to use Paypal

There have been a few sellers I have bought from and paid with paypal, now they don't accept paypal so I don't buy there any more, the thing that bugs me is here we use bank deposit direct and the amount of dills who buy from you and live in the next street virtually and still insist on paying with paypal is rediculous then they ask if you have posted the thing the next day, it takes 5-7 days to transfer paypal payments to your bank account and I don't always have the readdy dollars to go to town and post something, I still prefer paypal though. ]:)

Re: Forced to use Paypal

I don't really take checks except for money orders and cashier's checks. I do take personal checks through Paypal only. I don't mind the wait since I don't have any problems if the check doesn't clear. That is Paypal's problem and worththe fees. This guy has a week to answer and then I will get my fees back for the first listing. I can cut him off any time I want to, but I have to wait the prescribed days to get my refund. I know some guys in this group who only use money orders because they are afraid that someone (the IRS) will get their financial information. I'll still use Paypal only from now on. B-)

Re: Forced to use Paypal

Not afraid of "IRS" just still have a bad taste from the past when I did use paypal. Postal money order is simple for me as I drive past the PO every day going to and from work. I do not pay with personal check either as that is giving out personal bank information to someone you do not know from whatever. Lou Besides most of my purchases come from the LHS, as that is cheaper than most items on ebay.

Re: Forced to use Paypal

Actually Lou, I was thinking more of Mr.Breeze, not you. I think I received my rebate for the non-paying buyer. I'll have to check out my account if I can figure out how to to that. I neged the buyer and haven't heard a word from him. As for personal checks Lou, if you send them through Paypal as an E-check, the seller never gets your personal info. Only the bank that Paypal uses as a transfer bank and your own bank. I like the protection that Paypal affords in all methods of receiving payment and I don't have to keep running to the bank to deposit checks or money orders. A lot of people like to pay by credit card too which Paypal allows me to take without any hassle. That's my feeling on the subject and I'll step down now. SmileyCentral.com

Re: Forced to use Paypal

The only s t u f f up I have had with paypal was resolved easily, once they checked their own account structure, the best part is getting a refund when the seller is adament he sent the goods and they NEVER arrived, besides when I buy from the states it always works out cheaper to use paypal, I really don't like having to add $8 to the sale price for the privilege of getting a money order then the extra postage to get the MO there in the first place. ]:)

Re: Forced to use Paypal

Chuck, Once you sign into your Paypal account home page, you will see two line of heading. On the second line is the word "withdraw". Put your mouse over that and a drop down will give you the choice of where you want to transfer funds, like a checking account or get a check. You can withdraw all or part of your balance. B-)

Thank you. Chuck. You're welcome Chuck. Oh, by the way, my Paypal address is the same as my email. You can send me any extra funds you don't want........:^O, B-) -- Edited by ginzokid at 05/13/2008 2:36 AM PDT -- Edited by ginzokid at 05/13/2008 2:36 AM PDT

Dave, I find that I use paypal in other places too. I like it. I know there are a lot of legitimate complaints against them, but the convenience is great! Simple & easy to use and accepted all over. Just like MasterCard! I hate getting money orders (cost & inconvenience) and won't send cash so this is the best for someone that would rather shop online than go to an actual store!

Re: Forced to use Paypal

I have only ever bought on ebay with paypal, I have dealt with a couple of sellers who wont accept it but usually only once, I have heard a few complaints but for me there have been none, I like being able to use it off ebay as well, it is becoming more accepted all the time. ]:)

Re: Forced to use Paypal

Ditto Dot! I use Paypal other places than Ebay too. Like Paper Creek and Bar Mills models. I have now required Paypal as payment on my auctions. I'm tired of waiting for money orders that never show up, if you know what I mean, and now that sellers can not give a negative to a buyer who doesn't pay, Paypal is the answer. B-)

Re: Forced to use Paypal

I too find it a gd convenience although I probably have bought much more with paypal. It is way too easy to buy something on visa when you don't have money to normally go out for a money order if one wasn't careful. Saving on the expense of money orders as well as postage time for M.O to arrive. Nothing worse than paying 4 bucks for a M.O for a $3 catalog,etc...
