I uninstalled 6.58.0.1 (android 12) and installed what I thought might be the working version from 4/26/22, 6.57.0.1.
Sadly I was wrong. This is totally preposterous. Does ebay review this forum?

6.56.0.2 also fails in the same ways. This sounds like the problem is not only at the app level... Unless they've just turned off searching because of some other systemic problem. Heaven forbid they should address the situation in this forum...

There are eBay folks that regularly read and respond on this board regarding app issues; if there are major app problems going on, perhaps they are working to fix the problem rather than posting updates.
Despite the complaints, I am still able to search using the eBay app, so perhaps the problem is not site-wide. Perhaps there is a geographic or network component involved, or a particular server.
Using a browser to go to ebay.com and search should still work even if the app does not. If browser links are set to open automatically in the app, you may have to disable that feature, though.

Hello! We appreciate the report. There's a known issue with the search function timing out within the app and the mobile team is aware and looking into it. In the meantime, you can try searching on the mobile and desktop sites as eburtonlab suggested.
