That phone may be several versions too old to use the right OS (I think it's at least OS15). There should be many threads on this issue in this very forum you posted in.

I think ebay is really shooting themselves in the foot on this, many people still use and really like their older phones...

If your current operating system does not support the eBay app and you cannot upgrade it, delete the eBay app and use a browser to reach ebay.co.uk instead.
