Hi there. Today I got a message saying I must update my app or exit. I spend most of my time buying things using my app (haven't used a PC for eBay in a very long time) but now that you are making it an update or stop using eBay I am probably going to stop using eBay except for occasional uses instead of every day.
You are probably thinking I should update but the problem with that is it will not let me update it with my current ios (which I will definetly not be updating) so it looks like you are going to be losing out on a lot of money by trying to make people update. I would suggest you might want to allow the older versions to continue working on older ios's. You definetly need to sort this out as I have used ebay daily via the app for years and that is going to come to end (which is very sad but will be what happens).

I have EXACTLY the same difficulty
WORSE, if you click on an item suggestion from an eBay message, it open briefly a web page (Safari) to switch INSTANTLY (rover.ebay) to eBay apps (on my iphone 4) inviting me to upgrade EVEN it is NOT possible for iOS older than 10
WHAT's a MESS!!

Hey FSci you ebay, the app was working fine why, I updated and the new app is **bleep**.
I want my black ebay app to work. And your advice to use a browser, what a bunch of a-holes.

That answer is really pissing people off...

How about this, don't break something that's working fine?

Forcing ppl to update is just stupid, it's user choice to update or not. The browser is terrible for using ebay! Fix the app or there are many other online retailers like kogan, groupon, each buyer, gum tree, Amazon and many more. You are not the only online retailer ebay!!

""This is a foolish move by eBay. The app appears to load in the background, but cannot be accessed due to the "Upgrade" notification. eBay should remove the notification so we can continue using what appears to be a perfectly functioning app. I don't need the eBay app to tell be to upgrade. The app store handles that, and it knows what apps will actually work with my version of iOS."" Bbtechno

Thanks for listening. I managed to log back into my app today. Looks like they have taken off the mandatory update. Well done for listening to your customers

I take it back. Sorry to get peoples hope up. It let me get back in to the app and asked me to resign in. The next time I opened up the app the update message was back.

Good to see im not the only one who is struggling with this issue. I run a iphone 4s that cannot upgrade to the latest version of the app.
Its not good practise to force people upgrade in order to still use your product. Especially when it appears the majority whom this problem effects are not able to upgrade due to limitations in os.
Simply stating 'use the safari browser' is a poor work around and very slack on behalf of one the largest companies in the world. The safari browser has its limits and is not very user friendly when compared to the app. Its terrible in comparison.
The old saying, if it aint broke, dont fix it. Well you broke it..so please fix it.

I totally agree with all these comments. Come on eBay - just keep the original app going!

I don't have a upgrade app message on my SE. Lists from my email will only open Safari. And can't launch the app that shows on the screen And the safari browser is a waste!
