Saved searches keep alerting to new items available, but when clicked only show "no results found for your search" and then shows a "suggested" search that doesn't use my search parameters

Yep, same here. No point in using saved searches anymore.

@mobile_feedback Any update on this please? I've not used the app since these problems.

I just switched to a new phone, and was forced to update to the latest app version from 5.17.1.1 where the saved searches were working properly. Old phone was a Moto X 2nd gen on lollipop 5.1, new one is a Moto e4 plus on nougat 7.1.1, for reference. I'm also have issues, but with a slightly different twist.
Saved searches will populate with new items, and show the blue dot as expected. Opening, and then closing the search will clear the dot - UNTIL - I tap on the next saved search and close it. After closing that search, the previously opened one will show the blue dot again. If I open the previous one again, it displays the message about having no new items.
When that one is then closed, the earlier ones will all be tagged with the blue dots again, so before long it's impossible to tell which ones I've already opened to view. With 69 saved searches, it can get frustrating to keep track of where I've already been.
A down-swipe on the list takes a long time to reset the dots, but that doesn't mean they're now corrected... It starts the while problem all over again, but with a new batch of newly listed items.
I tried clearing the cache for the app in app manager, and when that didn't work, I tried to do a full cache cleaning with AIO Toolbox - But that did absolutely nothing different than the simple cache delete.
This is obviously a fresh app install on a new phone, so I doubt if a reinstall will do any good.

You would think it couldn't possibly get any worse, but it has.
As of today... Within a second of closing any saved search (after browsing its new listings), the blue dot will pop back in. The only way to clear it and not have it displays any empty results, is to down-swipe the whole search list so it will correctly refresh all the saved searches.
Seriously!?!?
