Phone buttons disappear in app

I don't know what has changed in the past 2 days but my phone back button, home button, etc disappear while in the app. This is extremely frustrating as I have to back out completely and restart a search for any item I view. When will this be fixed? I've already updated, uninstalled/reinstalled.

In some cases when those buttons are hidden, swiping up from the bottom of the screen can restore them. Not sure if that is what is happening here, but it is certainly worth a try before restarting the app.
