Image Search Not Working in eBay App on Android

Has anyone else had issues with the image search in the eBay app? No matter what photo I take or what I pull from my gallery, I get 0 results. When I select one of the categories across the type I get an error message about Local Only being turned off. I don't have any filters set and I don't have Local Only on. This started about a week ago. I've reinstalled the app 4 times and still nothing. I've also cleared the cache on my phone and for the app. .

I just tried an image search using the eBay app.

A search using a photo in my gallery of a rechargeable battery turned up several results of boxes of blank tapes that were remarkably similar in color and shape, and used a very similar font as the battery label.

I'm having exactly the same issue. If I find a fix, I'll let you know.

Thanks for reporting this, can you try an image search using these steps and let us know if it works.

1. open app

2. Tap the camera icon at the top of the Home Screen search box

3. Use gallery or Camera to take a photo

Are you still getting the error?

I have tried those steps listed above and the ebay image search STILL DOES NOT WORK. I attached a pictures of what happens when I try searching and the blank screen received.

Ihave tried the following and the ebay image still will not nt work:

-Using the camera search 

- Using the Gallery Image search

- Clearing my apps cache 

- Searching for updates ( there are none)

- Uninstaller and reinstalling the app

Did you ever figure this out? I started having the same problem while at an estate sale this weekend. I was hoping it would figure itself out but I'm still pulling up inaccurate searches from camera or gallery.

You are having a different problem if you actually see results. Try sorting those results by Best Match.

This thread is from 2021, and the image search has been working between 2021 and 2024, so if you are having a problem now, it is likely a different problem.

What version number of the app are you using? Operating system version?

If you have not already tried, try uninstalling the app, restarting your device, then reinstalling the latest version of the eBay app. The restart should ensure a clean install.

In some cases you may not see available updates for the Android version of the eBay app if you are using an old version of Google Play Services or Google Play Store.
