You found this vehicle on another site, Facebook Marketplace, but were told the sale would go through eBay for your protection.
It's easy for me to go on and on and explain how this is a scam, but, to be brief, trust me, this is a SCAM.
eBay has no involvement with any sales of any items on any other site. Basically, that's about all you need to know.

If it's selling on fb marketplace, then, NO... eBay has nothing to do with that sale. DO NOT DO THIS.
You could help out the next guy by reporting the bogus ad on the site where you found it.

Yes, it's a scam.
Be honest with yourself. Isn't $9000 quite a bit lower than the average price for that car?
eBay does not send you email about the sale of a car listed on the facebook marketplace. eBay is only about listings found on EBAY.
Unseen purchases are NEVER paid with bank wire transfer or by giving gift card information.
Never agree to buy a vehicle unless you had it inspected at the seller's place of business.

If you found an ad on another site, and sent your contact information to a seller there, who responded that eBay would "handle the deal" -- then I am afraid you are dealing with a scammer.
That is not how eBay works. eBay does not rely on users finding ads on Facebook or other sites and sending contact information to a seller. Likely the seller will send a phony "invoice" that appears to be from eBay but is not, asking you to pay with gift cards [or a wire transfer] to have the vehicle shipped to you for a free evaluation period.
eBay has no warehouse and does not ship vehicles. eBay does not handle such transactions or provide "vehicle protection orders". Scammers often promise those things, though. Any phone number you may receive on such an "invoice" does not connect to eBay, but to the scammer.
See here for some info about avoiding such scams:

The only way to purchase a vehicle on eBay is to sign in to eBay.com, find the vehicle on eBay and complete the checkout process on eBay. You may have to pay a deposit. Then you typically meet the seller to inspect the vehicle and pay the seller.
If you encountered an ad on another site, contact that site to have the ad removed. eBay is not involved with any ads listed on sites other than eBay itself.

Just for curiosity, and I mean no disrespect, but, what happens when you search for such item # on eBay? Nothing, since item does not exist, you will then ask Fb Marketplace seller again to verify item #, as you do not see it on eBay, he will either give the run-around, or another fake item # that provides no listing. Have you actually searched for such car on eBay by description, BMW 335i, that will yield some real listings that you can chose from, and you can communicate with the seller directly and have eBay buyers protection.
Why will 2 unrelated, companies be working together? What is it the FB Marketplace does that eBay, craigslist, etc doesn't do? Nothing, absolutely nothing. They are all a means to connect a buyer to a seller, but they do not advertise the services of other competing platforms. Some are better suited for local purchase, while others are more suited for out of state. There is also the risk of scams, and those are usually hidden with slick messaging and fraud tactics involving wire fraud, gift cards schemes among others.
Ultimately, who, in their right mind will submit thousands of $ for an item sight unseen, untested, undriven?
