I think this is related: the app almost always tries to reset itself away from what I was doing when I go back to it. So if I see an item and swipe over to do a Google search, I can be assured I will not be able to swipe back to eBay.app without losing my place, as the app resets me.
AND I think it is in this reset that sometimes the app just gets jammed/overloaded/something and just outright crashes.
