App Requires ios17?

Hi 

After using ebay app for years, since yesterday, it won’t now allow me access? A message keeps saying update or exit. Which the directs me to my app store. Then says I need version ios 17 or higher. I’m using a 1st gen phone which which apple aren’t updating any more. So I’m stuck at 15.08.03. But when I remove the app & download it again, it’s telling me the older version is compatible? Help what’s going on?

According to a post on the UK community boards, the latest version of the eBay app requires Android 10 or later, or iOS 17 or later.

If you cannot upgrade your operating system or find an older version of the app that works with your current operating system, you should still be able to use a browser to go to ebay.co.uk instead.

If eBay browser links are opening in the Android version of the app automatically, you can disable that by going to your device Settings: Apps: eBay: Open by default: Opens supported links and choosing "Don't open in the app". iOS users can tap and hold an eBay browser link and choose "Don't open in the app".

Many thanks for your response & help. I should have mentioned I’m using 1st gen SE apple phone. I can see as like with many. I’ll just have to upgrade to a more modern phone, as apps stop working with older software etc. 🙁

Unfortunately the iPhone SE 1st Edition cannot update past iOS 15, so yes, you'll have to upgrade your phone to access the eBay app. In the meantime you can still use the web browser and I suggest deleting the app per my info below.

If you cannot update to a compatible OS then you'll have to access eBay from a web browser on your device and you'll probably want to delete the app so links open in your browser instead of the app.
