War Era "Every Soldiers Friend" Coca Cola tin. What was this used for and when?

We bought this at an estate sale. Its a round tin capsule about 2 inches long and 1/2 inches in diameter.  The cap comes off.

Stamped into the side of the capsule are the words

"EVERY SOLDIERS FRIEND"

COCA COLA

BOTTLING CO.

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS

"COCA COLA IN BOTTLES"

Does anybody know what era these are from and what they were used for? I cant find any examples of these on the internet.

Thank you for your help

Most likely an advertising match case/safe/holder. Could date anywhere from WWI to WWII period.
