as a buyer searching for specific items in 14k and 18k gold, and using the advance search tools, STILL the results mix in "14k over..." I eliminated any new items in attempt to circumvent the inaccurate search results, but still these new items described as "14k over..." with synthetic stones keep dominating the search results.
The listings from legitimate sellers of 14 and 18k gold and those selling natural stones are buried in the new fashion jewelry masquerading as fine. This algorithm has to be fixed to separate the very distinct product types and support the sellers.

DOES ANYONE ELSE SEE THIS?

WILL EBAY FIX THE PROBLEM?

Hello. I mostly sell natural mined-from-the-ground gemstones here on eBay and you are singing my song! I take great pains to test each of my gemstones and take photos to show every angle and color tone. It makes me sad for the buyers when I see listings for huge gems that are claiming to be natural for just a few dollars. But, lots of buyers are smart shoppers and they know that no one can really mine a VS to IF gemstone and facet it for less than the price of a cup of fancy coffee. My buyers are fantastically smart!

When searching, just put a negative sign before any word you don't want included. For example, to have those "gold over" listings not included, just type "-over" in the search bar (without the quotation marks). eBay won't let you have only negative sign items though. I hope this helps!

Optimize your search for items of higher price to low. Your problem will be solved.

There is nothing to be fixed when Buyers automatically are searching for less expensive items. This is eBay, a place to find bargains. But, no low price is without a reason.

If anyone is looking to be cheap, so let them be!

Use the price filter (min/max), use the search filters for metal and metal purity. That should help a bit
