I had a ring that I paid almost $5,000 for over six years ago. Name brand, Neil Lane. Easily authenticated. The ring was beautiful and the auction sold for $750. I did not want to sell the ring, but honored my sale as I am an honest seller and never back down due to the listing not going for what it should. The ring is a size 11, I had it professionally sized by Kay Jeweler and that is the size of the ring I wear. The buyer paid $3.23 for shipping, I even paid $18.68 to cover insurance in case the ring was lost or damaged. The ring was authenticated and then I was told it did not pass, due to the ring size being 12 and not the 11. The buyer actually backed out of the sale due to the size 12 instead of 11. That was funny as they were to receive this ring for $750, it's probably worth $6,000 or $7,000 now. I don't care that the sale fell through as I am out the $18.68, but wanted warn others to maybe think twice before selling on eBay as obviously their authenticators are not up to date on jewelry sizing and appraisals. So the ring was authentic, well over 3 carats of diamonds (listed it as over 1 carat to avoid issues as I could not recall the exact carat weight). Had specialized black diamonds in the band and was a high end jewelry maker of Neil Lane (main ring) and J.D. ring guard. The ring guard alone is selling for $3,900 as J.D. is a high end jeweler. I think it is hysterical the buyer walked away from the bargain of the century due to the authenticators mis measuring the ring at a size 12 , instead of a size 11. Just wanted to warm others, I would think about selling on other sites to avoid ridiculous issues like this.

I'm going to say one thing..well maybe two, you dodged a bullet there! Don't let that ring go for that price ever again.
It failed because of the ring guard I bet. Originally that ring was size 12 and it now has a size 11 guard that was not mentioned in listing as I can see. Everything has to be 100% factual & shown for Authentication.
Dang, I wished I would have seen this listing, would've snatched this puppy up. Please don't sell this for so cheap, it's really beautiful. Silver

Per Silver I may be wrong and the issue could be the ring guard throwing the sizing off. If that is the case, please disregard my post. p

Moderator, please remove. It appears even though the ring was sized to a 11, the ring guard may have thrown the sizing off in the authenticator process, so my post should be removed. Thank you!

I don't think your post should be removed, this could be very helpful to others when it comes to the authentication process. Just select best answer.
Thank you for posting.

Definitely PLEASE select the best answer. @silverstatetreasureboxes deserves the solve and the question should be left up for future reference.

It's my understanding if it doesn't pass authentication, which includes the size being accurate that the ring is automatically returned to the seller.
eBay Authentication doesn't ask the buyer if they still want it.
You would need to relist it calling it size 12.
