Let me be the first to write on this board and welcome those that have come here looking for information about a piece that they may have or a general question about jewelry. Since this is a new board, please be patient as it may take some of the people in the know about jewelry a bit to find this place. In the mean time here are some great links to some information that you may find useful in your quest about your piece. I deal mostly with costume jewelry, but there are some people around that know about fine jewelry as well.
Some maker's marks you may be looking for can be found here: https://www.illusionjewels.com/research/costumejewelrymarks.html
Great information can be found here about all aspects of jewelry:
http://www.morninggloryantiques.com/
And here is a site that may help you identify that hang tag on your piece:

BUT a word of warning ... the more you find out about your pieces the more likely it is that you will become addicted, like the rest of us.
Again, Welcome.

I ran across this article on strange jewelry and thought it was interesting!
From bug jewelry to mourning jewelry.

I love this quick little reference for NA or Native America jewelry artists.
It not only gives you a bio but next to their name it describes what their hallmark appears like.

Alpacca or Alpaca silver, you'll see this on some listings but beware. Alpaca silver is really not silver at all, it's a mix of copper, zinc and nickel. It has no scrap value at all. It is also referred to as German or nickel silver.
If the item you are looking at does not have at least 92.5 percent silver content than it is incorrect to call it Sterling. I will provide a link to view and a good read.

My apologies for this duplication of finding treasures original post at the top of my Alpaca post^^^^^^
My Avatar is missing and posting things are getting crazy. It's copying other posts, I've had to correct 9 dozen already!!! 😆
Anyway, I've tagged maeday76^^^^ so I'm hoping she'll add to the Alpaca saga.

Since I'm helping out this lovely poster on Amber this is a great link to have. It has many good tips to test your own Amber pieces as well.

Here is a good read on different garment clips popular in 20s - 40s. A poster supplied this on another post and found it interesting.

Apparently this two interlocking CC s with one in reverse has been giving us fits. A poster found that it is an old retired Charming Charlie logo.

Dr. Lori gives out free information on her website and YouTube about all kinds of antiques, but especially vintage and antique jewelry. Yes, she pushes her services and promos, but I have to say, she does know her stuff. She is worth watching, IMHO. You can find her videos on her main website at: https://www.drloriv.com
