Assuming the red are coral - how can I tell for sure? Any thoughts on what the light brown and dark brown are?
Thank you!

Hello. Pretty set. The white beads appear to be agate. The brown beads appear to be bronzite. The red beads have a few possibilities: lightly rub a soft cloth with a tiny dab of nail polish remover to test for dyes as I suspect they are dyed agate/chalcedony. I hope this helps.

They came from a yard sale

I think the set was handmade. Not sure if the clasp is sterling but it's not marked.
Thank you both for your input - so not sure what the red is?

I'll do what was recommended for the red beads

Look up red dyed agate & chalcedony. Then compare your beads with sponge coral and last, red jasper. I'm sure you will be able to identify them having it in hand and reference photos to check against.
Please let us know what you find.

definitely agree that they could be red jasper. the only reason I did not suggest coral is b/c I did not see the characteristic spicules - but that could easily be b/c of the angle of the photos.

Yeah photos don't tell you everything. Let's see what comes up!
