Authenticity Guarantee: missing items in jewelry category?

I spend my free time looking at vintage jewelry:  gold, platinum, precious gems, the whole nine.  I am also a seller on ebay, so while most of the items I sell don't meet the threshold or criteria, I am aware that jewelry is now included in eBay's authenticity guarantee.  This resulted in a rate increase in the category for everyone by the way, and since part of my sales are paying for this service I want to make sure I am getting my money worth.  Also I want to make sure that as customer, if I am buying something that should qualify for the authenticity guarantee since it is intrinsically something that I am paying for (sellers have to increase prices when fees increase), it qualifies for the additional service.  I follow several high end sellers where their items definitely meet criteria, but a lot of items (especially if they are older listings) seem to be missing the authenticity guarantee flag.  While I like to assume good intentions, I have seen one relisted item some how lose it's guarantee flags (off hand I can think of one but I may have seen a couple where this has happened).  It is not just those relisted, but newer listings definitely meet criteria but aren't getting the authenticity flags.  Has anyone else noticed that a lot of items that should qualify for the authenticity guarantee in the jewelry category some how aren't?  Just curious.

Re: Authenticity Guarantee: missing items in jewelry category?

The program is very new, and the number of items that meet the criteria for authentication is insanely high.  EBay just hasn't gotten around to putting every jewelry item that meets the criteria of the program into the program yet.  I haven't had a single one of my listings added yet.  From the feedback I've heard about the program and its flaws, I'm not really looking forward to my items being added to it honestly.

I wouldn't wish myself into this program if I were you. It's been a very faulty roll out and I'm sorry my long time customers are being put through the 2 week shipping delays and confusion due to ebays lack of communication about the new "program" where new graduates of the gia school are tasked with giving an opinion on vintage/antique jewelry that they have no experience or real life knowledge of.

It is middle of the road American made stuff that gets the badge. Tiffany, Cartier, Bvlgari escape it. Go figure.
