Identify James Avery markings

Hi, everyone! Yet another jewelry marking question. This time, at least I know who the maker is, these small silver heart stud earrings clearly are marked Avery.  I believe these are vintage.  However, the markings on the posts made me ask you, guys.

The posts are marked JA Ag/Pd 30.  I assume that means Palladium plated Silver? If that's correct, is it the posts are Palladium plated or entire earring?

Hopefully, there  are James Avery experts here.

Thank you, everyone!

What markings are on the earrings themselves?

Though the beauty may be in the butterfly, the struggle and growth occur in the cocoon.

I sell tons of Avery and have never known them to use anything other than 925, 14k, 18k, and bronze.  I could learn something new, but I don’t think they’ve ever plated anything.  It is possible the posts are replacements as I’ve had to do that myself, but I question the playing aspect of it since they would have had to take them to JA to have the it done for there to be an Avery mark on the posts. Can you post a pic of the earrings?

The vast majority of commercial sterling jewelry made in the U.S. has been rhodium plated since the late 1970's, nickle white gold has been rhodium for many years before the 70's.

I believe the Ag/Pd 30 is sterling with 3% palladium and rest copper, which is sold by many metal suppliers. Rhodium plating on silver is not required to be disclosed, although there is a notice on the FTC website which says they are discussing disclosure.

Very interesting. Thank you very much for the info. I will add photos. I just thought that if earrings are Palladium plated or, as you mentioned, they have 3% Palladium in the alloy, then they are worth more than if were just plain 925 silver.

From the side and back they look like the Solid Heart Ear Posts by JA. I guess it’s right when they say you learn something new every day because literally hundreds of JA pieces later I’ve never seen the palladium stamp on one of their pieces.

These little things weigh 1.69 gram together with backs. I called JA directly, they suggested I email photos to them for identification. I just have to figure out how to take better photos of posts.  I may just do that. These earrings intrigued me now. They turned out be more interesting than I thought.

I appreciate everyone's responses. If anyone has anything else to say -I'm all ears 🙂

Try using a plain white paper as a background with indirect light.
