Hello,
I have this necklace that is marked 1/20 12K Gold Filled on one of the clasp rings, it is also marked on the opposite side but they soldered it right in the middle of the marking and I can only make out what appears to be "...rstn.." This necklace appears to be made so the tassel pendant can hang down in the back, and the part that goes around the neck is choker length. What would you call this type of necklace? I think it would be considered a sautoir? Also the age I"m totally unsure of. Any help is appreciated.

Think it might be Forstner

Hi Saint, no they're called Back drop necklaces. Usually for wedding gowns, here's an image I found on the bay
very sought after with brides!

WOW! Thank you Sarah, that's it!!! Fast sleuthing there! Now I have to figure out what decade the tassel and buckle was popular. I was thinking 70's but not sure.

I don`t think you have to pin it down too close since it could be a crossover period. Just do ca. 60`s-70`s and you`re covered 😀
I`d never seen these before..very interesting!

Just an update to this necklace made by Forstner, in case someone else was researching here. I have found that is was made in the 1940's, when they made jewelry with flexible gas pipe chains and snake chains. Here is a useful link on the company:
