Is this true?? Found this on ask Yahoo

eBay restricts sellers a lot more than Amazon does. While Amazon does have a seller feedback system, much less importance is paid to it than with eBay's. eBay will suspend or limit a seller's ability to sell, often for no reason other than the seller ending up with a feedback or DSR (detailed seller rating) star rating lower than eBay thinks is acceptable. i.e. eBay thinks that less than 98.0% overall feedback score is bad, and a DSR rating of less than 4.5 out of 5 stars (90%) is also bad. Interesting to note however is that perhaps 90% of Amazon's best sellers have ratings less than 98%. Such sellers would likely have been suspended from eBay because of eBay's buyer biased policies. Of course this is most likely why so many have indeed left eBay in favor of Amazon and elsewhere, and why Amazon has been doing so much better than eBay is the past couple of years

Sort of true.

EBay is a LOT more protective of buyers than Amazon.

And eBay works with its subsidiary Paypal to make sure that buyers are not ripped off for Not As Described or Not Recieved purchases.

The numbers quoted are too high.

EBay does not restrict sellers until their Detailed Seller Ratings average less than 4.3 not 4.5. However eBay also 'gives' an automatic Five Star rating for Shipping Price to sellers who offer Free (domestic) Shipping and do something I have never understood with Communication ratings. So a seller's Ratings can be only on Description and on Shipping Time.

And feedback can drop a lot lower than 98% before a seller is restricted.

However, most experienced eBayers counsel newbies to avoid sellers with less than 98% positive feedback, with the caveat that the customer should not just trust the number, but should actually read the feedback. Because: crazies and competitors.

Which is why it is safer/better to BUY on eBay than on Amazon, but sellers who have poor customer skills will do better on Amazon than on eBay.
