Sneakers failed authentication for unknown reason

I bought a pair of OW AirMax 90s TheTen brand new from CoolKicks and posted them on EBay to sell. They’re brand new and yellowed from oxidation. I put in the description “sneaker is yellowing” and put very detailed pictures. It failed authentication for some reason. Is there anyway I’m able to find out the specific reason for failing?

The notice you received would state the reason.

Please copy and paste or show a screenshot of the notice, redacting any personal information.

ETA: Because the listing has been removed, it appears they were deemed to be counterfeit. But your notification would state that reason.

Listings that fail due to condition or differences between the description and real life item aren't removed.

Here’s the email I got from EBay “Unfortunately, this item didn't pass authentication, so the sale could not be completed”. I get that failed authenticity is the main reason, but I think it would be great to know what exactly is off or shows that they’re not authentic, especially since I purchased from a credible store.

You need to understand that fakes have gotten better and better and in fact, for some items, the counterfeiters buy genuine items, disassemble them to see how they're made and in doing so, they learn how to make better fakes.

Couple that with the fact that many sellers, knowingly or not list and sell fakes.

If ebay's authenticators disclosed the minute details that disprove authenticity, the counterfeiters would learn what to fix and sellers would know what not to show in their listings that would give away that their items are fake.

All you need to know is that whoever sold you the sneakers sold fakes and if possible, maybe you can get a refund from your supplier.

My advice has always been that unless you are expert in a brand and/or unless you procured your item(s) from authorized retailers, it's a good idea to verify authenticity before listing any item.

Understand that many sellers shop flea markets, thrift stores, Craigslist, ebay or they get gifts. You can find authentic items for bargain prices at any of those sales but there's also a plethora of fakes and sellers need to learn the difference.
