Hi. My daughter had this lightweight wool blend coat which we wish to resell. But while the collar label says made in Italy and I thought looked real, I noticed the label inside the coat with the care instructions says made in Hong Kong. Does this mean it is afake?

Please wait for others to chime in but here are my thoughts.
1. The contradiction between the neck label and the content tag is a huge red flag to me.
2. I see differences in the spacing, shape/font and size of the text on the neck label vs. one I believe is genuine:

I'll chime in and say the side stitching on the white label is sloppy compared to other labels I've seen from that brand. I'm not an expert, just pointing out another detail to consider when researching.
Also compare the As in MADE IN ITALY in the 2 pics @albertabrightalberta posted. On the white tag you can't see the space in the upper half of the As. And the Y looks taller than the L. It looks wrong.

In case we need further evidence that your coat isn't authentic, I have a couple more examples.
First is a better comparison of a genuine neck label, more straight on:
And the fabric content tag.
Notice that on the fake, they spelled the Italian "virgin wool" as "Laine vierge" instead of "Lana vergine"

Also, in the pic from the first post that shows the lining with a seam down the middle - notice how the pattern doesn't line up? You typically don't see that on authentic pieces. Higher end designers tend to line up their patterns along seams.

Thanks to you both. The coat did seem suspicious to me as I was photographing it for sale but I wanted to be sure as my daughter did have other authenticated designer items.

In the light of day when I'm not as tired, it's glaring to me. Even the "G" in Gabbana is all wrong.
Kudos to you @cooknbook101 for being astute in this situation and checking before listing.
Go ahead and mark alberta's first response up above as "best answer." 🙂

Actually, the label on the left is in English and French, rather than English and Italian, as you say it should be.
The spelling is correct, but it's the wrong language.
