Gucci authentication

Dear Community,

I hope this finds you well. I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me with an authentication question. I bought this Gucci bag several years ago, and though I was able to successfully sell it, my customer is worried about its authenticity. I assumed that the pictures, including the one of the serial number (pictured in the link but it is 247220 20406) would be enough, but they seem to be anxious since someone else's opinion seems to have cast doubt on their belief in its authenticity. Now I know this is not true, but I would not like this customer to be unhappy and they've asked me if I could verify its authenticity somehow. I thought I would take it to community experts, since I'm not a regular bag seller and not an expert in this topic! I would very much appreciate any advice you might have, and thank you in advance for your help.

With thanks,

Gucci authentication

I'll preface my post by saying that I don't consider myself expert in Gucci however I've owned and sold several and I do know fonts. (This isn't to say that a "correct" font = authentic.)

I wonder what changed with the buyer. She left positive feedback.

I don't see any red flags on the bag or the Gucci tab and serial number. (You copied it incorrectly. The bottom number is 204046.)

I do offer one piece of advice should you ever decide to sell highly faked/designer brands in the future.

You don't say where you purchased the bag "several years ago," but unless it was from Gucci or from an authorized partner retailer, it's always a good idea to verify authenticity no matter how "authentic" you believe it is. (If you bought from a legitimate retailer, there's usually no reason to verify although there have even been cases of dishonest customers doing returning fakes to retailers.)

In the case of a Gucci that you may have purchased from the secondary market, I would probably recommend a pro authentication (~$7.50) prior to listing since it adds credibility to your listing and reassures buyers.

Please wait for other opinions but again, I don't see any problems.

I dont ser anything wrong with it either. I would go to Castira and pay for an authentication.

Thanks so much, everyone, for the help! I purchased it through a friend who worked at the Gucci store, who got me her employee discount, but I am very grateful for the tips as I was unaware there was an authentication service. Though I don't really have any other designer items to be selling like that, above my pay grade, ha! Maybe someday...
