I have a pair of vintage jeans that I've put off listing for at least a year because I don't know how to describe them.
There is stitching that creates a pattern of squares. The stitching creates raised outlines of the squares. Is there a word for this? I've been looking up stitching, welting, piping (even though I know it's not those), windowpane....
The label inside says "Bargain House" and the label on the pocket says "Top Tops" but I haven't been able to find those either.

I would vote windowpane.

Maybe windowpane patchwork.

Whoa - that fabric looks mid-70s. I would also use 'windowpane stitch'.

I was thinking '70s too - besides the look of the fabric, they're also bell bottoms. I was in college in the early '70s and these look very much like what we were wearing back then.
"Windowpane stitch" sounds good - I think I'll go with that.

I think windowpane stitch is the perfect description.

I just found two pairs of similar jeans - one on posh mark was described as "windowpane quilted;" one on depop described as "quilted." They're not really quilted, but they do have a quilted look, so I'll go with "windowpane stitched quilted."

Or windowpane stitched quilted look?
