Woot! Here we are with a chance to make a fresh start....brush the cobwebs off your old listings and your old mindsets and let's go! We're a group of eBay sellers who enjoy talking about our great finds, good sales, and life in general. We welcome newbies and lurkers, and promise we don't bite!
THIS IS THE SECOND QUARTER THREAD AS WE'VE ALREADY GOTTEN TO 700 ON THE ORIGINAL THREAD! GLAD TO SEE YOU HERE!
Here are our best ideas, culled from years of selling experience:
1) LIST IN A VARIETY OF FORMATS - Try some regular auctions, auctions with Buy it Now, Fixed Price, and Fixed Price with Best Offer---try some with free shipping too. Not only will you get a better idea what works for YOU, but you'll offer buyers a variety of buying options.
2) OPTIMIZE YOUR LISTINGS – By using the free Terapeak Keyword app (find it in the Applications tab), practice how to take better photos, change the keywords on your listing titles regularly, change the opening blurb in your store header every now and then, and experiment with price changes UP as well as DOWN! Run Sales on a regular basis with the Markdown Manager and also learn how to set up Promotions on your Store listings for better visibility.
3) DON'T LET YOUR UNSOLD LISTINGS LAY AROUND - Check your My eBay page and click on Unsold...get those relisted ASAP! You've already done all the work, so be sure they're available to buyers. More listings = more bait in the water = more bites. 😄
4) OPEN A STORE - If you are wondering whether you are better off with a BASIC store or a PREMIUM store, figure that if you have over 250 store items, Premium is a better buy....under 250, Basic is....this is at least a rule of thumb to get you started. Stores used to be great places to put items and keep them available year round, but with the fee changes, maybe not so much - sit down and figure it all out.
However, there are at least four really good reasons to have a store.... 1) listing fees are less if you have a store, 2) your items can be separated into categories making it much easier for buyers to shop, 3) you can run Promotions and Markdown Manager sales. They are two different ways to generate sales!, and 4) you can put your store in vacation mode when you need to get away for a bit.
5) DEAL WITH BIDDERS, BUYERS, AND ANNOYING INQUISITIVE POTENTIAL BIDDERS IN A PATIENT AND FRIENDLY WAY - Remember that it's worth money in your pocket and it's good business sense to show respect to all. If you must, write up that snarky reply, laugh at it, then hit delete.
6) KEEP A POSITIVE ATTITUDE! This thread is all about MAKING MONEY, that's for sure, but we feel that being supportive of our Lister Sisters and Brothers helps ALL of us. Drop in and hang out! Venting is allowed, but take it easy on the drama, negative vibes and controversial, off-topic issues such as politics and religion.

BOY-TOY????
With a 3" completly gray beard, that is the LAST thing I ever expected to be called. Thanks though Beth. Made me laugh and woke up Chico the little boy dog. The doctor said I could start using a razor again. Mom told me to take a picture with the beard to send to my sister in California and my Ex girlfriend in Illinois. Don't know if my dog would recognize me without a beard. Did anyone see the video of the guy who lost so much weight that his dog didn't recognise him? i try to find it and link it here. Anyway I am listing hard, trying to raise money to go to Costa Rica and get my teeth fixed. (Had an implant come out during chemo and need to get it replaced.), might fit in some beach time too!

While I was typing that I got a notice that I had sold a suede shirt for $77, that's a start. And remember I said to keep an eye out for 90's style colorblock items. Well I sold a Tommy Hilfiger color block plaid shirt last week for $55. Cost me $1. I like those kind of returns. By the by, the scrubbing bubbles were never paid for, so I have them listed as a BIN for $125. Green to all!

Ears not only haven't popped, they're WORSE this morning, so I had Barry call me in sick and went to the doctor. First time in my 62 years that I went to a dr. for a cold. They flushed some crud out of them and started me on antibiotics, Mucinex DM, and NasaCort nose spray. I keep hearing crackling and popping, but NO OPENING. I swear I can hear about 20%. I don't FEEL sick, fortunately.
Took advantage of the morning off to get my license plates renewed.
Hi 2good! Your sweet mom is always full of good advice 🙂
Hi Pinkee! Nope, haven't seen that show but hope it puts eBay out there in front of people.
GREAT SALES for me overnight, THANKS, eBAY!!! I have a nice stack of packages going out 😄
Oh, Accurate, glad you laughed and took it as the compliment I meant it to be! You sure deserve some beach time when you get to Costa Rica. Maybe you better shave down to a mustache first so Chico has some warning about who you are 😄
EXCELLENT SALES!!! Good for you--those'll add up fast! Mine weren't big ticket items like that, but glad as can be to get good sales and empty hangers.
TTYL, going to do my "filing"---putting the items on their racks and that'll take care of my HUGE weekend project.

Good afternoon to one and all!
I'm a little late to the party but happy to be here and hapy to be selling again.
I am working hard on my pricing scales and testing out different price points, I guess I just need to get back into the groove of things!
Sending good luck and lots of green to everyone, there's plenty to go around for everyone!
Thanks for the tip on the colorblock shirts from the 90's, I have a few that are just hanging in the closet, going to list them!

Hi, I'm of the opinion that you should do ALL of those. Why not offer buyers what they prefer...some like auctions (which I typically start lower than my hoped-for final price) and others like fixed price, and some like the best offer thing (which you'd typically start higher than your hoped-for final price). I think most people here would tell you that auctions would be a better choice for things that are likely to stimulate more than one persons' interest and get bids going. Maybe a high-end item? Vintage? Unusually cute? Hard to find size? Whereas an Alfred Dunner top in size 12 might not engender quite the same enthusiasm in a crowd 😄
But here's the REAL bottom line! Even those of us who've listed and sold here a long time know there's no secret formula---we scratch our heads over the same questions every week! Not only that, but there are people here who can sell the heck out of brands I do poorly with and vice versa.
Wish I could tell you! I really do....but nobody knows, and that's the truth. Beth

Sadly, my dd did not get to ask her question on the CNN show. She was towards the end of the line-up of panelists and Gov. Kasich was rather long winded in his answers so they ran out of time before getting to her. We could see her sitting on the front row but that was it. Still, she said it was a good experience and she got a free trip to NYC out of the deal. She was hoping to see some friends today and is flying back in later tonight.
Woo-hoo to Accurate with your good news! Very happy for you!
A beach vacay to Costa Rica sounds great. Is dental work really that much cheaper there?
Beachy, good to hear from you again. Glad you had a "grand" time with Bubba.
Gogo, those mirrors are lovely and will look great in your home one day. Lol about the AG dolls. I've been to Africa too and sadly, many of the kids had very few toys and certainly not AG dolls.
Beth, hope you get better soon. I actually did LOL at your boy toy comment and Accurate's reaction. Hmmm, wonder whatever happened to Deuce. He was full of good info.
Hi Patty and Pinky and everyone else!
Heads up to check your sizes when listing items specifics from the drop down menu. Saw on another board that there is a glitch changing letter sizes to numbers and not always the right ones....ie M to a 3.

Wrote a long response and it disappeared.
Question was: "Is dental work in Costa Rica that much cheaper?"
Penny, It is worth it if you need a good amount of work done. 10 years ago I saved over $15,000 when I had 2 implants, 2 posts & 7 crowns done.
But living expenses and airfares have soared while the US dollar does'nt go nearly as far. 10 years ago the best steak in town was $15, now it's closer to $50.
But I need the work done, & need a vacation. Plus there are friends I'd like to see.

Penny,
Thank you for the compliment on the mirrors!
Shoppingmom2,
Here is the 14k gold bracelet not sure of the stones, my Gucci watches and a sterling silver bracelet for $8 at the flea and a Fb group said this is a Greek Key necklace. It is marked 925, Italy and Krementz. My first Krementz piece.
