I have a 'diagnostics' listing for a computer upgrade/repair service. The buyer who wants this service purchases the diagnostics listing with pre-paid return shipping which is included with the listing.
The buyer then sends me their computer and I upgrade it and return it to them with the pre-paid shipping. There is a separate listing for the upgrade performed.
Is this the best way to organize things, or should I have the return shipping charged as part of the upgrade listing?
Can I sell an item with no shipping at all (the diagnostics)?
The only reason I ask is because eBay will penalize me for the 'diagnostics' listing where I don't promptly upload some tracking information on the pre-paid return shipping fee that was paid.

Selling services as opposed to physical items is janky and I'm pretty sure it's almost totally against policy on ebay, exactly because of shipping and tracking and returns etc. I don't think ebay is the ideal platform for that. You are selling parts here, which is fine. But for services you need a want-ads type of site, it's a different type of marketplace. There are different variables.
Others will know better, and things change over time, but I don't think you can legitimately sell "services" on ebay. SO MUCH can go wrong. This is an "items" site.
