This is becoming ridiculous. Ebay is appearing grimier than ever by allowing these greedy, low-life scalpers to take xbox's that they don't want and sell them for OBVIOUS AND CLEARLY disproportionate prices. Ebay needs to do something about this.

Not exactly sure what you're talking about, however; if I'm understanding you correctly, isn't that called competition? Anybody is allowed to sell an item for what ever price they wish.
I've seen others selling the exact same items that I sell (especially on my other account) for 25-50% less than what I'm asking, sometimes more than that.
I don't understand how they can do that, but they do. I just figure that maybe they need some quick cash and need to dump it fast, or maybe they're just cleaning house and getting rid of stuff that's been sitting in their closet for however long.
By the same token, my product is sometimes a lot less than others. I usually try to price my items in-between the low and high end of the spectrum. Works fairly well for me.

Lots of sellers aren't selling ones they don't want, they purposely buy them to resell so they can pay bills. Sort of a 'second job' in additional to the 9-5 so they can afford to live. Many people are too busy working to buy essentials like food and housing than to have time to even play video games.
EBay won't help you, eBay wants items to sell for as much as possible, the more an item sells for the more money they take in, it's basic economics.

Sellers can ask whatever they want
if the price is too high buyers will hopefully be informed enough not buy from that seller
But if according to the market the xboxes are overpriced it is up to buyer if they choose to buy
it is still a personal choice
Go figure free choice still lives

Why do you hate the free enterprise system ?
Would you prefer communism ?

EBay? Free enterprise, across the board, supports escalated prices in regards to supply and demand.
Have you gone to the market lately? You need 2 full time jobs to support and feed a family.
If you are not happy with the price of any item offered don't purchase it.
When things are in high demand and not readily available, prices go up.
Check out the housing markets.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family,
Grandma

As much as the market will bear. Makes sense to me.

Buyers need to stop buying from those sellers and go buy them where they buy them.

This is a legitimate complaint.

this is a legitimate concern. it is a sign of an unmoderated discussion forum, however, that allows name-calling and pile-on type bland criticism of an issue that could reasonably be a way to improve Ebay and its competitor reseller networks.

I suspect that most all of those who are offended by someone jacking up the price of an X Box would think differently if the following situation existed.
Someone gives you a full pallet of new X Boxes to do with as you please. Xmas is right around the corner. So what are you gonna do? Scalp them on eBay or sell them on eBay at a low discounted BIN price to get rid of them PDQ................
