I bought an old camera from a private seller. He wrote the camera was in working order BUT missing its charger. So far, so good - the price was not bad. When the camera arrived, it turned out to be missing also its memory card, without which it doesn't work at all! And thus I could not tell if anything else was wrong with it. So I filed a return request. But I also borrowed a memory card from a friend and found it seems to work OK. So I stopped the return request. But I feel cheated. I wouldn't say a camera without its memory card is in working order! So I would like to return it on that account - but my first return request is now closed, so I cannot apply to do so. Is there anything to do?
I asked the seller for a refund, the price of a memory card, and now he got nasty and threatens to report me to ebay if I contact him again.
Any advice on what to do? Do I just have to accept the way this transaction ended?

Unfortunately you closed the request so that means you cannot reopen it here on eBay. If you open a request on PayPal you could request a partial refund for the price of a memory card, but the seller could instead tell you to return for refund and then you would have to pay for the return shipping. Is it really worth it? Memory cards are cheap and as you stated the camera does work. Instead leave appropriate feedback. Don't mention anything about a claim. See below

Most camera's do not come with memory cards and when they did they were not worth using, small storage. Go buy one, there cheap.

Did the seller mention anything about the memory card being included with the camera? You can try opening a return case on Paypal, but be aware it will take a lot longer to get a refund. Good luck to you.

This one did come with a memory card, in the brochure it is pictured and mentioned as part of the package.

No, but he said 'working order'. If a camera does not work without a memory card, I wouldn't say it is in working order. He only mentioned the charger, which of course also is part of the original package.

Unless the memory card is. Some specialty card that's hard to find I'd just buy another Memory card. They aren't expensive and a camera can still be "in working order" without a memory card.

You think so? As soon as I turned it on, it said No memory card. If I tried to snap a picture, it said Cannot record. So it does NOT work without a memory card. It's an old Canon camera.
Of course I can afford to buy a memory card, but I feel the seller has been cheating me.

Yes, that is probably what I'll have to do. Thanks for giving the input as to what to write (English not being my mother tongue). Of course he may give me revenge feedback, and I never had anything but positives until now - 1401 positives in fact. But that can't be helped. I don't ebay much these days anyway.
Thank you all for your help.

In my opinion, I'd expect the memory card to be something extra to purchase, and would not expect it included in a used camera. Just like purchasing a printer - the ink and paper are accessories, even if it is new. Like buying a dryer or a stove, you have to buy the plug, but doing so does not mean the appliance does not work. Like buying a toy - batteries are usually not included.

That is something you don't have to worry about. Sellers are no longer allowed to post negative comments' Sellers can only leave positive feedback or none. If they try to disguise the comment it can be taken down.

A printer does not usually come with paper. I would however expect it to come with ink or whatever it uses. Just like I would expect even a used camera to come with a memory card if that card was part of the original package - which is the case here - and can not take a single picture without this card.

Thank you - nice to know. I haven't done much ebaying the past years.

Well, judging from our conversation I don't believe he overlooked it. That would have been a nice explanation.
And that's just what I'll do - buy a card and leave appropriate feedback. Thanks.
