I purchased an HP laptop from an EBAY certified refurbisher a year ago and I have loved it but the hinges are locking up. The unit came with an allstate warranty and allstate said they would not warranty the hinges under their warranty. Hinges are a common mechanical item and fail regularly on laptops and that was the main selling point of their warranty. They stood firm on the position that hinges are not mechanical but physical. DO NOT PURCHASE AN ALLSTATE WARRANTY expecting them to cover common item failures, as they will not! Almost all consumer purchasing laptops from you with an allstate warranty will assume the warranty would cover a hinge since it is a common mechanical part. I and most consumers would consider Allstate misleading and unethical offering a warranty that doesn't cover one of the most common mechanical parts on a laptop. DONT ALLOW AN ALLSTATE WARRANTY INFLUENCE YOUR DECISION TO PURCHASE
